my bladder is getting much much worse.. besidies my urethral burning, Interstitial cycstis and pelvic floor dysfunction, my recent bladder prolapse is making even more unbearable.. I have to stop nursing him many times during one feed to get up and use the bathroom!! I am in so much pain, and trying not to take pain meds which I havent.. even though I want them so bad. My dh keeps telling me to stop nursing, but I just dont want too.. with my oldest I was in remission till he was a year old. With my second I had pain but not as bad till she was about 9 mos.. some how babies usually make my problem better for a while. Well now.. I want to shove my freakin fist through a wall and then crawl in it!! I want to nurse Ethan through the flu season, and with all the food allergies in my family, want to exclusively nurse him for 6 mos (nothing but breastmilk) which is only 4 mos away!! I was planning on nursing till the end of June when the kids get out of school, to help protect him with my antiboties from getting sick! But what do I do.. If I have to have surgery, I will most likely be in the hospital for 4 days.. I can prolong it possibly.. still have to see my urologist.. only saw ob yesterday. I just dont know if I can stay off all my meds.. for this disease I am usually on 10 or more different meds daily for some symptom and pain control.. anti's, muscle relaxers,.. meds to help with urine flow etc.. nothing I can safely take now.. what the heck do I do.. I am so upset right now I am in tears!!

You poor thing. Is there anyway you can pump as much as you can so you can go ahead and get the surgery. I know there are pain medications you can take while breastfeeding. You have to take care of yourself. I understand why you dont want to give formula since your kids have allgeries. I would ask the doctor for some pain medcine that is the least risky to baby. In the end you have to take care of yourself in order to be a good mother.

I want to tell you to think about yourself if you are sick and in pain see if you can take something. It's different with me because Norah is also on formula so when I take something like Lasix I just give her formula, could you pump a couple extra bottle of Breast milk so when you have to take something he could still get it but you woul have a little relief from pain meds.

If it wasn't for the bad food allergies I would say give him formula but with the allergies that would be hard. Maybe all the Dr's could figure out something to get get you better and be good for Ethan.

I have narco which is the strongest form of vicodin.. 10/660 instead of the 5/500.. but I hate to use it while nursing.. since my c section I have only used it maybe 3x.. I used to before being preggo(never used it then) would use it 2x a day.. sometimes skipping some and then once my meds kicked in.. a few times a week.. I hate taking them.. my pain specialist wanted me taking pain meds 4x a day because I have permanent nerve damage due to chronic pain and avoiding pain meds for relief.. ex.. when they hit my knee with that instrument to check for a reflex.. I have none!!! besides the surgery, I know I need to get back on the antidepressents for nerve control and muscle relaxers for my pelvic floor.. I just was hoping to avoid it till he was almost 10 mos.. i really want to keep nursing till my kids are out of school in June.. I wasnt even going to do a whole year.. two mos short so I can get on my meds.. ug.. I am miserable.. I have nothing against formula.. once my oldest turned 6 mos.. although I still bf'd.. they got one bottle of forumla a day.. but I avoid it for 6 mos cause.. well with ds I started everything earlier.. and the allergist said to try and exclusively nurse for 6 mos and then just do soy and avoid dairy for the first year! Which is what I did with dd.. ug... I can scream right now.. I am so upset by all of this

I am sorry you have to go through all this.

I would tell you to take care of yourself first because you need the meds but it is upsetting not to be able to BF. Do you pumped milk saved? What about going a few days without breastfeeding and giving EBM to him then pump and dump so your supply wont suffer.

Oh hon, I can't even imagine I would ask lots of questions about the meds and BF. I know when I had Jace, I was on 11 different medications and I still EBF him.

they make hypoallergenic formulas, what about that!?!? My theory has always been mommy has to be happy for baby to be happy!! If you are in pain and distress your baby can feel that.....whether he's nursing or bottle feed. Only you can decide what is best for you, nothing anyone else can say makes a difference....we're not living your life!!! Hugs momma and good luck in your decisions....I'll keep you all in my thoughts that you find the right answers for your family!!!

Are you sure you can't nurse and take those meds? If so, I agree with your DH. I know its easier for me to say it than for you to do it, but if you're in that much pain what else is there? I know you want to nurse, but first and foremost you have to take care of yourself. Also, is staying in pain preventing you from doing what you need to do with your two older ones? I can't even imagine what you're going through and would just hate for you to stay in pain.
