My son is 2 years and 3 months old and still sucks a pacifier! We are doing good right now at trying to ween him off of it! He didnt have it all day yesterday or last night and then no pacifier today or tonight when he went to sleep! So 2 whole days is good! Anyone elses child still suck a pacifier? If you just recently took it from him/her how long after that did u consider it "Gone"?

My other question is does anyones child do this gagging thing for no reason! Im not sure if its a attention getter if thats why he does it but he will just start gagging for no reason and put his fingers down his throat too and make hisself gag!

Caroline is addicted to her "B". That's what she calls her pacifier. I was going to try to wean her off it but got pregnant and thought introducing a new baby to the family and taking away her "B" might be too much. So, she's 2 and still uses the binky! I can't believe I've allowed this! Right now I'd rather have her potty trained then ditch the binky. So, I have no advice on getting rid of the paci.

As far as the gagging....we don't have that problem. Have you mentioned it to the pedi?

lol! Yeah I wish he was potty trained but thats a joke! He has NO interest what so ever! Well last night he ended up getting his pacifier back he woke up at like 130 in the morning and was crying and i saying I Want I Want and I knew what he wanted but I just hoped he would fall back asleep but he didnt! So I let him cry and tryed to just pat his butt and put him back to sleep but after about 5 minutes of crying for it I just gave it to him! The only thing good about it now is he only wants it at nighttime when hes going to sleep, so him not having it all day and just at night is a start for me! and no I havent mentioned the gagging to the pedi. he just started this! Like I said though I think its something he may be doing for attention! The only other thing that kind of worries me with it is because here lately he gets chocked easy on things that he may be eating...so I may watch and monitor it a little longer and see how it goes and if nothing changes take him to the pedi.
Thanks for your input! Glad to know mines not the only 1 still with a "passy".

Dakota still has her bink at naps and bedtime :-/

As far as the gagging, have you tried to ignore it? Rylan will gag and vomit for attention, we either ignore or tell her to stop and she can turn it off!

No advice on the paci!! Connor gave his up on his own around the one year mark. That gagging thing I would say is a phase. All 3 of my kids did it. It would drive me nuts but they eventually stopped. It could have been as a way to get attention but I didn't give them any attention because of it. If he continues it too long mention it to your Ped.

thanks ladies I feel better! LOL! I personally think its a attention thing...the reason why I think it is is because he will do it then look at me! It does make me nervous though! Thanks so much for the advice ladies!

My daughter did the gagging thing a LOT around the age of 1. I would ignore it unless it got close to making her puke and then I would make her stop so I wouldn't have a mess to clean up. I HATE it!! She does it rarely now, but I think the sensation feels good to them (no idea why)! She also still has a paci. We were going to try to get rid of it, but we had another baby in October and moved her out of her room this past summer, and into a big girl bed, so I didn't want everything changing at once. We are going to get rid of it soon, but we will still let her have it at night for a little while. With a 3 month old that likes to get up early in the morning, I just can't bear to mess with my toddlers sleep right now!
