Does anyone else have a LO who tends to repeat himself a few times at the beginning of words and especially at the beginning of sentences? Charlie does this often, and actually has been doing it more lately even than he used to. I am wondering if it is fairly common or if it is something I should be worried about.

Joey totally does this! It's just that she's trying to figure out what she wants to say. Like for breakfast she'll say, "I want... I want... I want... (2 minute pause) I want... Mini-wheats." I also think it has an element of trying to get and hold my attention, which is in short supply. Zaniyah and Analiese do this sometimes too.

Kirsty does too!!! I have put it down to her starting her sentence before she fully knows what she wants to say

Erin did this a lot at this age and I have a friend who is a speech/language therapist and she said it was really common. True enough Erin grew out of it.

Patrick doesn't do this so much, but he's only recently really started talking at all. lol

Nathan's Speech Pathologist said it was totally normal because often their little brains are still trying to put the words together but they're thinking so fast that they can't get the words to come out right. It lasted only awhile for us and then Nathan seemed to drop it.
