So, I got a $100 Barnes and Noble gift card for my birthday, and I'm looking to buy me some Nook books. But I'm so out of the loop, that my wish list is too short! What are some of your favorite titles? I just finished reading "Room" by Emma Donoghue and "The Marriage Plot" by Jeffrey Eugenides, and I loved them both. I also have "The Hunger Games" downloaded, but haven't read it yet. What else would you recommend?

One book I heard about in a magazine and ended up liking a lot is:

Amazon.com: The First Husband: A Novel (9780670022670): Laura Dave: Books

Another series I have taken on that I am mostly enjoying (I say mostly because the books are the kind where they make you want to keep reading, and they are long books with some heavy stuff going on--so you are really wanting to know what happens and it drives you crazy!), is the trilogy by Paullina Simons -- The Bronze Horseman, Tatiana and Alexander, The Summer Garden.

The first suggestion is a much easier read, but if you are in the mood for something more involved that teaches a bit about history at the same time, the second series is a worthwhile read. Just be prepared to have times where you don't want to put it down...

I also like Sophie Kinsella books for easy reads. I think I like her older books best, but I typically like most of her books.

I love having a Nook..... it is so fun to download books and read them on there.

The Hunger Games are on my list too.

Have you read "Gone with the Wind"? It's my all time favorite!

"The Help" was also fun. And for non-fiction, autobio type "Committed" by Elizabeth Gilbert was an awesome look at marriage and relationships. So true and so funny. She's the one who wrote "Eat, Pray, Love".

Yeah, yeah, yeah! I listened to "Committed" as a book on tape a few years back. I could never manage to get through "Eat, Pray, Love," but I loved "Committed."

And "Gone with the Wind" was my all-time favorite also when I was a kid! I haven't reread it in years, though. Maybe I should. I'm sure I've forgotten lots.

*Hi Molly*

Have you read any Jodi Picoult or Chris Bojahlian? They are two of my favorite fiction authors and both have a ton of books under their belts. Midwives by Bojahlian is great.

I just finished Incidents in the life of a Slave Girl, which was amazing.

If you have any interest in sustainable farming The Dirty Life (kristen kimball) and This life is in your hands (melissa coleman) are also good reads.

Thanks, everyone! I spent the last week completely absorbed by "The Hunger Games" series and unable to put my Nook down. I breezed through all three of them with no breaks. Fantastic reads. Now I can't wait for the movie next month!

I'll have to look up some of these other titles. I read "Midwives" long, long ago and remember liking it, but I'm unfamiliar with anything else by that author. Off to browse!

Just wanted to amend my suggestions.... If you try out the trilogy, skip the last book.... honestly the story is really told in the first two books, and the last one just goes on and on with not much necessary content. I read it only because I didn't want to miss anything, but didn't really enjoy it much. The first two books have the actual story....
