Who has already gotten the shot?? My OB highly recommends it and since they dont have them in she told me to get it where I can find it. Well my primary has them, and were only giving them to healthcare workers and under the age of 25 but I begged and they agreed.

Now, Im scared. But my co-workers sister in law just passed away (@ 7 months pregnant) from the Swine Flu and that fear surpasses the fear of the shot.

So please tell me you got it and everything was ok!!

I think it will be too! I get the seasonal flu shot every year. (Not this year yet) But why am I so nervous then?? Eeeeeeeeek! (I shouldnt of asked for opionions of people at work- who obviously arent pregnant and dont get the seasonal flu shot to begin with)

I got mine on Monday and everything has been fine. The injection spot was even less sore than when I got the seasonal one 2 wks ago. Baby has been moving around fine and I have had no side effects. Good luck!

Lesson I've learned - don't ask people at work.

I just found the season flu shot and got it yesterday. They only had a handful left of those. Sometimes I wonder if the swine flu vaccine scarcity is a conspiracy. Way to make all the pregnant ladies scared - like we need the extra stress, right?

not to be a party pooper, but i'd be more concerned with long term effects...something that those who've just gotten the shot haven't experienced yet. things that could cause problems YEARS from now....but i understand, if you want to get the shot, you have to get it now, not wait years from now to see how it affected others. let's just hope that everything turns out okay for those who get it!

Seasonal Flu Shots have been safe for years, so I'm not sure what the difference this one would cause. I mean, if they would of known the outbreak was coming it would of went straight into the seasonal one and there wouldnt of been thing hype. Right?

I think you're making the best decision for you. I honestly would rather deal with a child who may/may NOT have side effects in the future, then a dead child and mother. I like how that pedi put it in the other thread...it's just like a car...same assembly line, just a different "model".

Good luck! I'm jealous that you were able to find a place that has them, and I definitely think you are doing the right thing. I'll be getting mine AS SOON as it's available.

As someone who isn't getting the shot, I still find this to be very inappropriate.

She asked to hear from those who had already gotten the shot and how they are feeling.

This is a very personal decision to make and I am sure she has done the research and made her decisions in regard to what is best for her body and her baby. Trying to "scare her" out of it is incredibly inappropriate.

i'm sorry, i was NOT trying to scare her...i probably wouldn't have replied to the thread b/c i don't have an answer to her original question, as i haven't gotten teh shot. i was responding more toward the couple of posters who have already gotten it, that i don't think anyone is "home free" b/c they got the shot in the past few days and no side effects today. like i said, i hope everything turns out okay for those who get it! in another thread here, i've already stated that i think each mom has their own decision to make as to what's best for her family and i would never criticize anyone who chooses to get it b/c obviously they think that is what's right for them. and i also clearly stated that i understand, if she wants the shot she has to get it NOW, and not wait to see if someone has side effects from it.

I think we need to have a H1N1 free board lol I think we've all been asked and answers who is and who isnt enough times by now?

Maybe we could have a specific H1N1 sticky or thread that only people who are interested in answering/asking can post to? LOL

^^agreed. if people are going to post and then other people are going to get all upset by it...there's no point to discuss it.

And a hamburger we eat today could give us mad cow disease 5 years from now.

I just don't see how it is supportive to go "Well, those of you who got the shot shouldn't worry about how you feel 2 days after....it is the long term effects that worry me!". As much as each and every one of us know how agonizing it is to make this decision we should all know that there is no blanket decision to make. Each of us have to make our own decision and it just seems...counter-supportive to say "Great that you got it but I hope everything is okay 5 years from now!". And then you post a link about a women who was paralyzed by a VERY RARE side effect of the shot?

And FYI......the article clearly states that she had a reaction to the seasonal flu shot - not even H1N1.
