So I've known for the past week that I MUST go buy some shirts, between the growing bb's and belly my normal shirts are just to snug or riding up. I'm actually doing well with pants since I found the ones at Target that come in real sizes and fit me nicely.

I go to get a few shirts and seriously.... my belly is bigger and will continue to get bigger however I have not grown 5" taller, WHY on earth are most maternity shirts so freaking long? I'm pretty tall already at 5'7" and they are falling to my mid-thigh, my butt and thighs already look bigger I don't need to add more material down there and the whole I'm wearing a really short dress over pants look isn't working for me. Wider, not longer is what I need! Suppose I better hit the mall soon to plan a massive try on so I can find some that are semi flattering. I might just buy some plus sized shirts and hope they fit decently since I suppose those would at least just be bigger in general but not longer?

i just went to JC Penney today, and they were having a half-off sale on most of their maternity stuff. their shirts were nice, and not too long, so you might could try that if you have one close by.

I know what you mean! I'm 5 foot 9 and the ones at Motherhood were half way to my knees.

The problem with going bigger is that you end up with sleeves that hang off and huge neck lines. You end up feeling like you're wearing a sheet instead. That's even less flattering. I wish I knew how to sew and had a machine, I'd rather just hem the maternity.

I really can't say one way or another about Jcpenny. Our store has such small selection.

Do you think they make maternity shirts longer to hide our bums and thighs/hips? I am shaped like a pear, so I tend to feel self-concious about my hips and love to hide them w/longer shirts...I'm having trouble w/the top part though, since I'm still not growing BB's...all the shirts I wear are HUGE in the chest area and I have to use saftey pins and wear cami's underneath.

Try Old Navy. I found some long sleeve maternity tees there recently that fit just like their normal tees. They didn't seem too extra long (which probably means that I won't be wearing them at the end but oh well).

Oh. Hmm. I seem to have the opposite problem (but I'm 6'). Actually, no. That's not my problem. Mine is that the shirts with "empire" waists end up hitting me mid-boob. The length isn't horrible though on the regular shirts.

I have gotten some shirts at JCPenney that were a good length. If you've got one nearby...it's probably worth a try. My favorite shirts though have come from Ross. I don't know if TJ Maxx has a maternity section, but the Ross ones seem pretty good.

I have the problem where it's either too long, or on my x-s maternity clothes they make the shirts really short! As if small people don't ever get bellys!

My problem is that apparently tall people are also wide. I'm almost 6' but on the thin side so I have to buy a much bigger size to get the sleeves long enough but then I'm swimming in the shirt. I don't think we'll ever figure out clothes sizing!

Have you guys tried to get shirts that aren't technically maternity shirts? I just happened to have bought a ton of looser fitting shirts and regular empire waisted shirts before I found out I was pregnant. Those have worked perfectly so far, and I don't anticipate having to buy any actual maternity tops....but I'm 5'2, so maybe that's why...I haven't even tried looking at maternity tops this time.
