Has anyone spoke to their doctor about cooking with alcohol?

My MIL puts bourbon in the pecan pie every year. Pecan Pie is my favorite, do I need to ask her to leave out the booze?

I think eating some would be fine most if not all of the alcohol will burn off in the oven anyway..

i'm of the overly relaxed pregnant variety, but i'd say it's totally not a problem. anything that is cooked will cook off the alcohol before you even eat it. plus, you'd have to eat a LOT of that pie to have a problem.

I might just! I've been waiting all year for that pie.

But yeah I didn't think it'd be a problem with that cooking time.

Thanks!

Alcohol cooks off when you cook it. I stopped making shrimp scampi though while I'm pregnant because it just isn't fun when you can't polish off the rest of the bottle of white wine with dinner. *Sigh*

I marinate my chicken in peach schnapps and bourbon. I never worried about it. And red wine in my spaghetti sauce.

While I won't drink a glass of wine or a mixed cocktail you better believe I will still be putting grand mariner in my cranberry relish

It will cook off Otherwise there would be warnings about feeding babies, and children anything cooked with alcohol.

I agree with everyone else. In fact, on Friday, I had the yummiest Bourbon-baked ham. It was so good!!!!!
