Today my whole family was at my grandmother's for Thanksgiving. My grandparents are in their 80's and in decent health except my grandmother has extremely bad Asthma. My cousin called and said that her 4 year old is sick. She had been at the ER all night with him. He tested positive for flu and was still contagious and running a fever and you know what? She was calling to ask my grandma if she could come over anyway and bring him with her!
My grandma told her absolutely NOT!
I can't believe she even asked. At least she called first and didn't just show up. She was actually upset that my grandma told her no.
She should have been thinking of EVERYONE - the old, the young (AND the pregnant) when she knows for sure her ds has the flu and is contagious... I know it would be hard to miss out on a fun time but really she can't have been thinking straight! Good on your Grandma for standing firm!
I'm glad your grandma gave a firm no! It actually seems a little selfish of your cousin to have wanted to still come. She just didn't want to miss out on a good time herself, regardless of the possible consequences. You're right: some people just don't use their good sense.
