Okay so I was/am still for not finding out but now that our big U/S is MONDAY. I am handcroe wavering! I'm like okay I wanna find out.......no I can wait..No I can't! hahaha. So I was wondering for those who are waiting how do you stop yourself for wavering? To make it harder we are bring something for the tech to write down the sex so if my husband gets deployed before the baby is born we will ope nit. Or if we just can't wait we may open it anyway but I would like to wait. So how do you ladies convince yourselves not to find out?

Hardcore* wavering..lol...sorry

I'm in the same situation! Our U/S is next wed and we still want to keep it a surprise, but a part of me is curious and wants to know...but I just try to keep telling myself I will know in 4 months, hehehehe! But I'm not sure how I'll feel that day, I may just end up blurting out '' so what is it?'' or something without even really thinking it through, lol! I know I couldn't have it at home written down on a piece of paper though, that would just drive me nuts! GOOD LUCK!!!

If you really want to wait and have them write it down, I would mail it to someone! LOL With our last baby, we could have waited had we not had them write it down. But with that envelope calling out our name, we only lasted 24 hours! LOL

Good luck!

There isn't any wavering for me. I REALLY don't want to know and will be disappointed if we find out.

Question...do they do anything different about the u/s if you don't want to know? I'd be worried that just by watching I'd know. Especially with a boy because they can be so obvious. If DH hadn't been able to be at the scan I was planning on keeping my eyes closed and having her write the gender on the dvd screen for us to view later.

Just be strong when you get there! I know not every place does it the way my Dr. did but he just completely avoids the area and doesn't show you the screen until he knows where it is so he can avoid it. Even he doesn't know! If you REALLY AND TRULY do not want to find out ensure that the tech/Dr./whoever knows that you REALLY do not want to know. Don't waver in front of them even a little bit. You can stay strong!

I waivered too. We had them write it down and so far we havent' peeked. But we may wrap it up and put it under the Christmas tree for Christmas morning. We'll see. Last pregnancy we were totally suprised. Here's the thing about waviering. If you can make it past the big ultasound, it gets SO MUCH EASIER to wait. Once that scan is behind you and you don't find out, you become pretty much at peace with the fact that you passed on your opportunity to know and it gets easier to just put it out of your mind. IT's the very fact that you have a scan comming up that makes you waiver. Becuase you know in your head that you COULD find out and the answer will be righ there for you. One other thing that helped me last time, as I got closer and closer to the due date, with each passing week and month, I would think to myself "Okay, I've made it past the halfway point and didn't find out. It would be a shame to ruin it now".
By six months, you've make it so far- you get to where theres no way you'd ruin the suprise. And here is the golden egg at the end of the road- you get the magical, amazing fun of telling grandparents, family, friends and siblings "Guess what?" rather than "Johhny is here". It really is so much fun!
I probably need to listen to myself! We are thinking of opening our envelope at Christmas but I am not sure I want my suprise taken away. I don't know...we'll see... Good luck! But really, if you can just get past that ultrasound day, it gets tons easier. You won't even think twice about it after that. I will say, when we didn't find out, it was tough leaving that ultrasound appointment becuause it seemed almost a bit of a let down (we had always found out in the past) but the end result was really well worth it.

I don't really waver---I just really don't want to know! I let the US tech know this and she didn't even make the closest reference to a gender.

If you don't want to know or you want it written down, tell them first! We were toying with having them write it down again, and were going to mention it when the tech got to that area, but as soon as she put the wand on my tummy, we saw his goods! LOL There was a big screen on the wall in front of me, so it would have been hard to miss unless I had closed my eyes (or maybe she could have turned that screen off?).

With my last with the envelope, I was pretty sure I saw a penis, but I think the fact that he looked so much like his brother to me also made me think it was a penis. ha!

I also wanted to add that with my first, they didn't do the 20w scans (almost 16 years ago). I desperately wanted to know, but only had a scan for bleeding at 13w. Then, 3 days before my due date, they did an u/s to check size because they thought she was going to be big. It had NEVER EVEN CROSSED MY MIND that I could find out, so I hadn't prepared. When the tech asked if I wanted to know, I just said yes and sort of regretted it later. I delivered only 5 days later, so the surprise would have been neat, especially considering I was absolutely convinced it was a boy. It was nice to get her some girl things though, I hadn't purchased a single thing for a girl.
