I guess it's not my favorite, but at this point I'd take anything for a date night! DH and I haven't had a date in months - if not a year. I guess the difference between going out for dinner and staying in would be not doing it all yourself and having to clean up. But I do get what you're saying.
What would you rather do? Our last outing was to a bar (smoke free here in Florida) where I watched him drink with his friends while I had free designated driver sweet tea on the house. Then I got to hear how I wasn't any fun to drink with anymore all night...in a nice way I suppose, he wasn't saying it rudely.
I'd prefer dinner and a new movie over that. Better than me cooking and cleaning. Hmmm...maybe if we stayed home and he MADE dinner and cleaned it up.
I don't like going to movies at all. I just can't sit still long enough. We usually just go to dinner and then home. Boring I know but my kids are both very hyper active so we really enjoy the quietness with just the 2 of us every once in a while.
I haven't been to a movie since I was 7 months pregnant with my FIRST and I haven't been to dinner alone with DH since she was 2 months old.... my MIL said she would watch both kids when they visit at the end of May so we could go out to dinner alone for the first time in oh... SIX YEARS. DD is already fussing about having us go out without her and is trying to argue the fact that as a family we should all be going together to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. She simply would not stop screaming when we tried to leave her as a baby or toddler and we moved here before she turned three and have no family around to have even tried since then.

I'm just happy for any date time for get. I think we've been on two dates this year. Movies are hard because we never agree and my legs hurt sitting that long. New Moon about killed me yesterday, though part of it was my small drink (that was more like an extra large) and my refusal to miss any of the movie to go pee!
I love going to plays and concerts. Shopping is fun but feels like a chore.

I hate dinner and a movie dates, but DH loves them. We try to get out just us 2 at least once a week, if for nothing else, just dinner. Since our DS was born just 11 months after we got married and we spent the majority of our dating time 22 hours apart, we make it a priority for our marriage to have alone time. If we didn't, we wouldn't have made it through the first 6 months after Isaiah was born.
