Anyone else keeping the name a surprise. We did with lacey and it was fun. It drove my family nuts but that was part of the fun lol. I think this time around we are going to have a harder time with it since we have already decided on a name. With lacey we kept two options open until we had her so it wasn't so hard. What about you ladies??

We're keeping our ideas secret from family because I don't want any commentary whatsoever! We also don't have a name picked out and don't plan to have only one---gotta see the baby first.

I wish I had. With Max my MIL sent me a list of alternate middle names because James didn't "mean" anything. With Meghan, she googled Meghan Joy and made comments about other people named Meghan Joy (or Megan Joy). Like I care! It's hard to have a completely unique name! So what? Grrr.

Yeah, we keep a list but won't decide for sure until baby is born. I am also being non-specific with family because they are too free with thier opinions.

We are keeping it a secret but it is really hard because at home we call the baby by name - when we are with others, we have to remember to say "the baby." It is driving the family crazy, but I don't want anyone's opinion or anyone to try and talk me out of it.

Ironically everybody likes the name Kalani. I didnt care if they didnt. Initially her name was going to be Arianna Kalani but mom immediately said "Ooohhh I love Kalani, why cant that be the first name?" and BD said "yeah I love Kalani!" and then I agreed only b/c I loved Kalani too (BD and I picked that name wayy before ). Those are the only people who I'd ever let have any say in my childs name.

When I thought that she was a he, A LOT of people (other than mom and BD) had an issue with the name Aiden, but I loved it so I didnt care. I'm black and its not a common name amongst us, but I didnt care and I loved it. And when I have a boy, if my husband (whenever I get one) likes it, then Aiden it is!

We have it narrowed down to either Violet or Iris for a first name. DH nixed Laurel, which was my favorite.

We've told people what we have it narrowed down to, but we will wait to name her until she is born. I still have to figure out middle names anyway. Right now I'm leaning heavily towards Violet Marie.

We kept Kellan's name a secret and we are doing the same with this little guy. We don't want to hear any suggestions or opinions. Plus, it's a fun little surprise on the babys birthday!

We tell people the name. It drives me nuts when other don't tell me the name so I wouldn't do that to someone.

If someone doesn't like I name I suggest they get knocked up and then they can use whatever name they like.

HAHAHA!!! That's FANTASTIC! I am so using that next time!!

I don't think I could keep our name choices a secret. I've already blabbered Caleb Michael to anyone who will listen, and luckily everyone has loved it (or at least liked it). But we don't know what we're having yet. If it's a girl, I think I'll keep it secret. Or, I'll at least have a "narrowed down" list, even if DH and I know which one we're really going to pick. That's just because people in my family are so much pickier about girls' names, and I just don't wanna hear it. When I told my family that DH and I both loved the name Claudia, and they all sneered or grimaced, it made me really irritated.

We definitely keep it a secret from family. I don't want to hear my mom's comments. I told my mom a few years ago that I loved the name Josephine she said "You don't want to name a child that." Uh, yeah I do that's why I told you I liked it. Lily got it as her middle name. It was easier telling my parents the name after it was official and couldn't be changed. All my mom could say was "Oh. How do you spell that? Are you going to call her Liliana all the time?"

My son's name is Aiden, I still absolutely love his name.

We are deffinitely keeping this baby's name a secret, it's even less traditional than Aiden and I know a lot of people will not care for it, but they get to keep their big mouths shut because they won't know it until it's on the birth certificate. HA.

My husband's grandmother, however, had no problem telling us that she hates Aiden's name, the first time she held him. I just laughed, who cares at this point!

I thought about it. Honestly the comments don't bother me so much. Both sides will complain about almost any name that we pick I am sure. We will probably tell people though because MIL will insist that I coerced DH in to keeping it a secret just to spite her and will call her whole family and tell them how evil I am. Plus, Camille is helping us name this baby and if she knows, MIL will surely get it out of her.

We didn't tell with DS, but we hadn't completely decided by the time he was born. So it wasn't quite as hard. This time DH told me he liked the name Amelia, but now he's wavering. More than anything I want a name that Millie can be the nickname for. Most people not family are told her other nickname of Mieshka. We like it and since it isn't actually her name NOR her nickname, I don't care what anyone says.

that's HILARIOUS!

We fully planned on keeping the gender a surprise, but I IMMEDIATELY ran home and told my mom and sister. We decided we are going to tell the name on Christmas eve (that's when our family has traditionally always have a big, candle-lit dinner and done gifts). My brother, sister, and me (along wiht our families) all snuck out and had pictures taken for my parents. They had no pictures of us together and none of any of the grandkids, so we are really excited about it. We are planning on it being a fun game for them to find out where we hid their last gift, and in order to get the clues, they have to answer questions correctly about everyone in the room. One of the questions is going to be "Which one of us has been named Isabella Ahavah?" ...that would be my baby. So yay! They get a clue to where their gift is AND they get the gift of finding out her name all at once!
