Have a quick question for you. I am still nursing my daughter Bree, she is 12 months old. Lately, as in the past month or so, its become increasingly painful to nurse her. My nipple tenderness is almost the same as it was right after she was born. When she latches on, it hurts for about 5 seconds. Very sore. What gives? Why is this happening again???

It's common when nursing while pregnant. It's why a lot of moms can't do it, they just can't get past the pain. It hurts incredibly bad when my kids latch on but after a few seconds it gets better. It won't last forever. Hang in there if you can

I nursed my son for the first 12 weeks of this pregnancy before he weaned. It would always kill when he latched on and then a few seconds after the pain would pass. My boobs are starting to hurt again because I can feel the milk glands getting ready for more milk production.. so I can imagine that it would hurt again.

I hope it passes for you!

Will it improve at all before the baby is born? Thanks for the help ladies. I appreciate it!

That is all dependent on the individual person. When I was pregnant with David and nursing Anastasia I NEVER experienced the nipple pain. This time I do. For some women it goes away and for others it doens't. The plus side is, if you keep nursing through the pregnancy you won't really experience mind blowing engorgement when the baby comes, your milk will come in faster, it will be easier to maintain a supply, and if you do get uncomfortably full the older child can help relieve you

I am totally planning to keep at it! I know the benefits outweigh the pain! Just hoping it fels better and doesn't stay so sore.
