I have implants, got them 9 yrs ago when I was 25 (above the muscle for what its worth mentioning). My milk took over a week to come in and I never had ANY leaking, I did however exclusively nurse my DD for a year and continued to nurse until she finally weaned at 3 1/2.... she was a little butterball so I know I made enough milk however she nursed 24/7, if she wasn't latched on nursing she was screaming... she never seemed satisfied and I often wondered if maybe even though I made enough milk for her, I only made enough or it only came out enough if she nursed all the time... I had the pump in style hospital grade pump and couldn't even get 1/4 of an oz no matter what or when I tried.

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has implants and if you were able to nurse normally (ie every 3-4 hours etc and your baby seemed satisfied between feedings) and could pump. Because I was constantly being sucked on and never able to leave my DD I really hated nursing, it was beyond exhausting and I have no desire to do that again so at this point I'm leaning toward formula feeding my 2nd... however I would consider pumping but I'm worried I"ll spend hundreds on a pump again and not be able to get anything.

I have had implants for about 6 years now and I didn't experience any difficulties with breastfeeding Bonham. My milk came in a little late, but this was because of the blood loss and trauma from our crazy delivery. When it did come in I had plenty. Bonham did nurse every 2 hours for a LONG time, but he had reflux so he had to have smaller amounts during his feedings so he could keep it down. I just allowed him to nurse one side at a time. I also pumped since I was working and I would get anywhere from 4-8 ounces per breast per pumping session. I do think my supply dwindled before it would have had I not had to pump, but Bonham nursed until 8 months so I felt pretty good about that.

Oh, I also used the pump in style from medela.

I didn't have and don't have implants and my daughter nursed just like yours. It may have had more to do with her personality than your implants. The normal nursing child doesn't nurse 3-4 hours... there is no normal nursing child and quite a few cluster/comfort feed.

Hmm.... maybe I'll rent a pump for a month and see how it goes, I'd really like the baby to get breast milk but I just dont' want to nurse like that again. I figured since I never leaked at all (never got engorged either) and couldn't pump that it was because of the implants, maybe it was just my DD's nursing style that kept me totally drained.

Not all women can pump either, and not all women leak. Neither are indicative of your milk supply My daughter was like your daughter, but my son was the exact opposite. Maybe this babe won't be so demanding.
