I already use All's fragrance and dye free detergent and it's worked real well for my sensitive skin and almost always gets out stains without having to spot treat. Would that work ok for baby's clothes too or is it still necessary to use the pricier Dreft?

I've heard lost of people not using Dreft and baby was fine, I think it just depends. I think we used Dreft for the 1st 6 months or so, then switched over without any problems. It sounds like your current detergent would be fine though, IMO.

Any free and clear detergent is fine. For baby's what causes skin problems are the dyes and perfumes that are in detergents.

I've always used the All Free and Clear for my kiddos. It's much cheaper and it's all you really need.

we use whatever it is we use. The babe is going to be cuddling up to your clothes anyway so you can just whatever you use normally.

I was going to say use anything you want, preferably in a free & clear formula at first though as their skin can be sensitive. I switched to free and clear when I got pregnant just because I couldn't take the scented stuff anymore and I like it... eventually we might switch back to a scented fabric softtner or dryer sheets but likely not till the baby is older.

I always used plain ole detergent that we used.. At the time it was usually some off-cheap brand, right now we use Tide with downy and bounce dryer sheets, so we may need to go to something less perfumed, but I will wait and see...

We used Dreft the first few months with Lily because people gave us so many bottles of it. But it's not necessary. This time around I plan to just use whatever we are using unless people give us more Dreft.

I have always just used whatever is on sale and we have never had any trouble. I have never owned a bottle of Dreft.

I used All baby with Kinley..it was cheaper than Dreft....but now the only place I can find the All Baby is at BRU...and its the same price as Dreft! I always wash baby clothes separately than our clothes for the first few months....since Kinley usually had a load of laundry by the end of the week. I'll probably buy some sort of baby detergent, either BRU brand or Dreft or something for the first few months

Someone gave me some powdered Dreft that I used until it was gone, but after that I switched back to the All Free and Clear. I did like using the Dreft stain remover spray though.

I think I used All Free and Clear as well. Now I just use whatever we're using. I'll probably use what I have on hand and if she reacts then (and only then) will I switch. Dreft is just too expensive, especially since I buy my laundry soap in bulk 30 lbs at a time.

I never used Dreft. I always used the All Free & Clear then I just switched back to the normal ALL detergent. Never had any problems with my daughter so I hope we don't have issues with this one either.

I have a bottle of dreft but can I/should I use laundry softener sheet in the dryer or does that just defeat the purpose of using dreft? The clothes just get really staticey without it....

I throw a couple of aluminum foil balls in the dryer with my clothes. I only use softener on my towels so this really seems to help with static cling .

We used Dreft for the first 3-6 months. I just love that smell! Then we switched to the All Free and Clear also. I use that for all of us. My cousin just gave us some Dreft so we will be using that for the first few months again and then he will be switched.
