I am having a really hard time deciding if I should add diapers/wipes to my registry... When I had DS I didn't even do a registry, and people brought diapers anyway, but I'm afraid WITH a registry, if I don't have diapers on there, people will forget about them..

I was going to just put a note in letting people know not to forget diapers, wipes, and clothing, because I'm not registering clothing either--but I'm now worried they won't see the note..

What do you guys think? Should I add the diapers to my registry, and if I do, how many of what size should I put on there? And is it kindof selfish to put like, pampers on there, which is the most expensive? Or should I opt for a cheaper brand?

eee.help? lol

I just REALLY don't want people to forget about them.. I know it would save us money!

Diapers are usually a standard gift at most showers I think. People know they can't go wrong with diapers! I'm not adding them to a registry, nor did I when I had Kinley. I only use Pampers as well, so when people got me diff brands, I would take them to Wal Mart and exchange for Pampers in the right size.

Most people like to buy the cute outfits, bibs, blankets, etc so diapers are usually for the parents to buy, as well as wipes. Everytime I go to the grocery store, I just toss in a box of diapers for Karsyn, so we'll have a few when she gets here.

My suggestion is that you register for gift cards. That way you can try a few brands in small packages until you find the right fit for the baby.

I don't see anything wrong with registering for Pampers. A lot of people, even those who eventually use generic diapers when their babies are older babies, still use Pampers or Huggies when baby is small (thats what I do). I'd just register for a few boxes in the first couple sizes. I wouldn't get more than 2 or maybe 3 boxes of newborn (up to 10 pounds) though. Who knows how close to that baby will be when they are born. I don't think anyone will find it weird that you register for diapers. Often people buy those anyhow as a standard shower gift- espicially those who aren't parents themselves and don't know what to get- diapers are an easy "can't miss".

One other alternative. If you have a Kmart near you- they have lay a way. I know its lame but I put several boxes of diapers on lay a way at Kmart. I put lots of things that are necessities but not really FUN to shop for...things like diapers, wipes, receiving blankets, burp rags ect. I can pay little by little and I'll have it out by the time baby is born. That way I can enjoy shopping for the more fun items w/out worrying about making sure I buy the boring but necessaries....

I'm registering for diapers and wipes. I put Pampers Swaddlers (size 1 & 2) because i've heard great things about them and figured it's a good place to start. I don't think there's anything wrong with putting a more expensive brand. I mean, if people don't want to get them they can get something else instead.

I was thinking about putting on the space you can put little notes "diapers and wipes are always welcome." Or something to that effect. But I still don't know if I want to use cloth diapers. Guess that is something I should figure out soon.

I agree that it is by no means rude to put Pampers brand diapers on your registry. If you specifically want that brand then definitely put them on there but you will most likely get other brands from people as well. Someone else mentioned Wal Mart. Wal Mart will basically take anything back so any diapers you get that they sell at Wal Mart just exchange for the Pampers you want. I personally did not put diapers on my registry because the school where I work at is throwing me a diaper shower, otherwise I would have. I did register for a more expensive brand of wipes though, but I don't think there is anything wrong with that because those are the ones I want. If someone doesn't want to buy them they can pick one of the other things on my registry. Also on your registry mentioning in the notes that gift cards are welcome is a great idea too! As for clothes, people always seem to get these!

I registered for diapers and wipes since we will need plenty of them. It doesn't hurt and I didn't feel weird putting them on.

I completely agree. I would put on whatever brand you want. People will buy what they want to buy - regardless!
