I'm wondering b/c my OB appt is tomorrow and I'm supposed to pay my OB deposit but part of that deposit is my deductible. Depending on how Friday nights L&D visit is billed that may take up my deductible instead.
It's a holiday today so my insurance is closed. My appt tomorrow is at 9 so I'm not sure If I'll get a chance to call before then or not.
I went in at 22 weeks for contractions (they were caused by dehydration). My insurance covers everything except emergency visits and I believe that is considered an emergency visit since it wasn't a scheduled pre-natal and wasn't labor/delivery. I'm expecting a bill for $25 which is the co-pay for emergency visits that we owe, but I haven't gotten it yet.
I went back in December. It is billed under my deductible, but since I had already met the deductible for the year I didn't have to pay anything. My insurance runs from Jan 1 - Dec 31 so if I were to go again I would owe the deductible. Maybe you could explain to your Dr's office that you may have already met the deductible. Hospitals don't bill right away so it may be a few weeks before you get the bill.
I haven't been yet but I'm using the same hospital and it's been less than two years since (plus they sent me a paper about it). Any visit to L&D that I wasn't sent up for by my OB or there because I'm in labor is billed as an ER visit. If I'm let go, I pay $50 and if I'm admitted $250, which is my billed copay.
Thank you for my beautiful siggy, *Kiliki*!Visit My Blog
I haven't gone this time, but I did with DD 2 years ago. I don't remember getting a bill or anything from the hospital. It seems like it was probably something like Amy's - it was billed as an OB visit and those are covered 100% with no deductible for me.
