I have been called to jury duty twice and only did it once but only for a day. Someone in the jury did something so they got a whole new jury. It was fun. I would also think that you would be excused due to medical reasons.
I'm pretty sure you can get a medical dismissal for that! I served the week of Christmas, but didn't end up sitting on a jury that day. Easiest $35 I ever made! It was my 3rd time getting called but first time actually able to go.
There's normally a number you can call on the paper. I'd call first, you might not need to do anything other than just tell them you're due then. Even if you could serve, I doubt they'd want someone even in the last month of pregnancy.
Thank you for my beautiful siggy, *Kiliki*!Visit My Blog
This is an ironic post, because I too, got summoned for jury duty for Feb. 1. I actually just talked to them this AM.. I got it post-poned for the fall because I am pregnant and on bedrest.. I can't go to work, I can't go to jury duty.. My temp. disability company would have a field day with that one! lol
Last time I got called I didn't have to go in. My area had a phone number to call the night before and my group number wasn't needed. I was bummed too because my work will continue to pay me for jury duty and I really wanted to see what it was like. However, I don't think you will be very comfortable that week!
Crazy timing! I was summoned once, but the instructions had me call the week before to see if they still needed me to show- they didn't. It worked out well for me because I had just started a new job and needed to take extra vacation days (that I didn't have) for my wedding and honeymoon. My dad has served as foreman on some sort of arms dealing trial, and my mom always gets a medical excuse because she has multiple sclerosis that can affect her vision and overall physical health.
good thing that it wasn't Federal Grand Jury Duty! i got called for that in July of 2007, and the only way to get out of it is to die, or move out of the district. that's what we were told. I just completed mine in July 2009. i had to go 2 or 3 times a month each month. hopefully regular jury duty will be easier to get out of. good luck!
