I wanted to make sure the base fit in my truck since it is a bit bigger and bulkier than most...but I have NO idea what I am doing lol! I thought I knew but the base is def not in there secure enough. Does anyone know of somewhere we can have bases properly installed..Ive heard the fire dept does it but I'm not sure. I dont wanna end up looking like an idiot if I roll up to the fire dept asking if they can install my car seat base and they just look at me like they have no idea what Im talking about lol.
It takes a lot of practice to get it in there right. Read your manual and just practice....then if you can't get it in correctly have the fire dept help you....or atleast have them check and make sure its in there correctly! Don't worry about looking silly or dumb...its your baby's safety! It took DH and I a few tries to get ours in before Kinley was born! Oh and make sure its in there right before going to the hospital...because the hospital won't check to be sure its right! (ours didnt anyways!)
My friend just had a baby and she said when they left the hospital someone went out and checked...sure enough theirs was in wrong so they fixed it for them! I guess it is different eveywhere. I just checked on my local fire dept.'s website and there was a section about car seat safety. It gave me a phone number/e-mail address to set up an appointment to have someone at the FD do it for you, and it also gave this website: Home | SeatCheck.org and said you can find inspection stations there.
Thank you MeganPixel for surprising me with this super cute siggy-you rock!

I was going to post the link Chrissy did. DH works at a police dept. and he knows a few cops that can check for us, though we never have had them do it. It is tricky!! Definitely call and check that website if you aren't sure. We were unprepared and hadn't installed the carseat yet when DD was born and DH had a majorly hard time getting it in. He won't deal with it anymore...
