So yesterday DH and I met with the diabetes educator to learn how to control my gestational diabetes. It was very informative and I really did learn a lot. The downside, it feels like I can't eat anything!! I never had to watch what I ate my whole life so this is definitely going to be a challenge. On top of that, I am the worst eater. My two favorite things are carbs and salt and now I have been stripped of those pleasures . I know it's for a good cause and it sounds like I am being selfish but I just can't eat by a meal plan (of course I am going to though). I am hoping that I can control this by diet and not have to go on insulin. However, even when following the meal plan last night for dinner, my sugars were high last nigh and this morning. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Well thanks for letting me vent and letting me have my own little pity party. The positive is that I only have to do this until my little ones arrive and I want them to be healthy of course (oh the things we do for our kids even before they are born )

So sorry you are having to deal with this! I can imagine how hard it would be to really pay attention to every last thing you eat. Good thing is you will only have to do it for probably 2 months tops! Don't twins usually come a little early? Are you basically eating protein, vegetables, and some fruit?

I really hope it works out for you! My meal plan has been working wonders for the past 2 weeks and my glucose levels have been good. It's definitly worth it not to be on insulin, but it does suck that you can't really treat yourself very often. I treated myself last night to a ''poutine'', one of my favorite foods: it's french fries covered in cheese and gravy, a big no no on the meal plan, but my sugars were still good afterwards, so I think you can still afford to treat yourself once in a while once you get your levels under control for a bit. I am a carb lover too, and I still manage to eat my favorite carb loaded foods, just in much smaller portions with lots of protein and veggies to go with it, that's all. I hate the meal plan too, but at least we are trying our best, and it will definitly be worth it when we hold our beautiful, healthy babies in our arms! Keep up the good work and KUP!

I can only imagine how hard it is. Hopefully the diet will work though!

OMG! Before I was diagnosed, I had my husband get take out at the diner about 4 times a week for french fries with melted cheese and gravy, I was addicted. We call them disco fries. Glad to see that I am not the only one that loves that

I went food shopping today so i now at least have food I can eat in the house. I hope I can at least try my fries again once I understand my sugars a little better.

I've gotta do the same thing and it is hard but it's worth it. On the bright side, like you said, it's not for too long, and I'm saving money on groceries! So more money to spend on baby ya!!
