I was supposed to be off work 6 weeks before I had Addison. I didn't listen and made him let me work as long as I promised I would stay at my desk with my feet up and do nothing else but go to work and go home and lay down. Mine wasn't anything too major but it could have turned in to something major. I was super swollen and they were worried it would turn bad.
I was put off of work with my first at about 23 weeks. My dr. just wasn't a fan of women working much after 20 weeks. She would always say (even before 20 weeks) if you want to stop working, just say the word and I'll write the note. I kept telling her I wanted to work. But at around 20-23 weeks I started getting really tired and emotional and started crying in her office one day and then she said it was no longer my decision she was taking me off work. I got 15 weeks of sick leave and then started Maternity Leave. At 27 weeks I got in a car accident so I would have been taken off at that time FOR SURE had it not been before that.
This time, it seems like it would take a lot for my dr. to think about taking me off work. Last appointment she told me I should think about taking Maternity early because I have a stressful job and I'll just keep getting more tired and tired, but never once did she mention she'd put me off on sick leave.

I've been on LOA since August for hyperemesis. Now I am still sick, but also have a hemoglobin of just over 8, and a 2 time history of preterm labor. So with all of that my OB wants me off, and resting as much as I can.
My contract at work allows for short and long term disability through the entire pg. Then I get 6 additional weeks of paid maternity leave. After that I use vacation/sick time for up to 4 additional months off.
I was taken out of work at 13 weeks pregnant! Back in October! Due to incompetent cervix, and having a cerclage put in.. I am getting temporary disability that will cover me ironically until my due date week.. If she's born ontime, and not early, I will have to take unpaid maternity leave after that.
My last pregnancy I had preterm labor at 33 weeks. Was taken off work for full time bedrest. I was put on disability and got full pay until the baby was born.. then full pay through my maternity leave (12 weeks). In total, I was out of work for 18 weeks with full pay.
