Today I am 37 weeks and 2 days. I'm having weekly appointments now. Today was my first day of maternity leave!!!!! My best friend came over and gave us a pack and play, bath tub, and bouncer chair.... she passed it down from her kiddos Then this afternoon I went to the doc.

My stomach is measuring 3 weeks behind.. I'm a 34 but doc isn't worried. He just keeps telling me I'm small and the baby is too. I hope so.

Kali's HB is strong and she has not dropped yet... They said I'm managing my weight well. Haven't gained since my last appointment. Next week he will start internal exams even though normally he waits til 39 weeks. He says he can tell I'm anxious and would like to know the progress.

Doc also says I can't have her on Feb 13-14 because that's when he celebrates the Chinese New Year. My mom and her fiancee don't want me to have her then either because it's Nascar weekend here in CA. Kali & I don't like Nascar and we don't celebrate the Chinese New Year so I don't think she cares about everyone else's plans.

Sounds like good appointment. Also ur doctor seems very nice.U did tell that he's older ,right? I guess he's experienced and would know if there was something wrong.
Kali's head might not be engaged fully but she might be lower then what she used to be ( that can be a reason why ur belly's measuring smaller) ALSO some doctor won't even check the fundal height after 36 weeks since they can be off for many reasons.

ahahahaha chinese new year and nascar. two things I know nothing about nor participate in. hilarity. I'm going to the doc tomorrow morning, and I'm anxious to see my progress. I hope I'm at least starting to dilate :/
and you haven't gained since your last appt! last time I went in I'd gained 6lbs in a freakin' week. I was horrified.

weekly apointments make me more anxious lol, my doc is sick of me telling her we need to get this baby out before 39wks cause im soooooo done being pregnant.
Go for the 9th or 10th like me...we will be 39wks then! and how awesome is birthday like 2/9/10 or 2/10/2010 !

my doc is much much older and claims to have delivered 10,000 babies. I've been measuring behind for the last 2-3 months and I also know she hasn't dropped.... my belly still looks like that perfect basketball and Kali's little butt is in the same spot, right below my chest. She's not ready yet and that's okay with me.

@ Anika I can't believe your LO isn't here yet!! Your belly has been so dropped/low for ages now!!!

@else weekly appointments make me a wreck! I'm afraid i'm going to go in and he's going to say something is wrong and we need to induce right then!! At least by next week I should be ready for Kali.

Nancy, I'm so glad to hear you are doing well. I hope your LO comes out when she is ready and doesn't worry about your doc's plans or Nascar.

was Kaleb early, on time, or late???

Nascar is apparently here in CA that weekend. My mom's fiancee is working it as CHP and my mom works at some booths... but when they get free time their friends have an RV in the middle so they go and party with them. My mom told me already that she'll leave nascar.... he fiancee just keeps telling me not to have her then

seriously the cars go in circles or like 3 hours.... i dont think they will miss much

ah, and with all of the girls here who have had to go in for early inductions, that's making me nervous, too! i do NOT want an induction.

anyhow-- i am glad things are going well, and everything is stable-- i stop gaining/lose weight at the end, so that could be a sign for you. wishing you lots of luck and elv, nancy!

Sounds like you had a good appointment...except for being told you can't have your little girl the 13-14. I think it would be pretty funny if you went into labor on the 13th. Although, would your doctor deliver you, or would you have another one since yours will be celebrating the Chinese New Year?

I love the name Kali...very pretty! Does it have anything to do with y'all living in California? I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable maternity leave!

yay for hand-me-downs! gotta love those.

I'm glad that your doctor has been so proactive in easing your concerns about measuring behind. I think it really helps when they talk about it with you instead of just acting so "ehh whatever" about it.

lol... don't people know that they can't tell you *not* to go into labor on a specific day... it's like jinxing it.

LOL wow I am glad that im not the only one who got told reasons why I cant have the baby on a certain weekend......

My boyfriends says not the weekend of Super Bowl...too bad it would make me happy so my house would not get destroyed again this year! and it helps they are stripping my membranes that Friday LOL.

My dad....he builds Nascar race cars for a living said not the weekend of the 13th 14th and I was like why? Thinking that he was against a Valentines day baby?? Nope....cant miss racing!!

One of them is in for a surprise....LOL

LOL I totally understand on the "forbidden" dates. I am not allowed to go into labor on Superbowl Sunday or valentine's day weekend, though the v-day weekend has something to do with a women's retreat my mom wants to go to. . .*shrug* I'm being induced Monday so unless that fails their precious plans will remain in place It's good to hear that everything is going well with baby! I have measured behind in my pregnancy, too, but my OB says it's because I am tall and have a lot of room for baby, so he just isn't poking out as far as some babies might. I think the only time they really worry is if baby suddenly gets way bigger or seems to stop growing. Being behind regularly just means a petite baby

Oh, and they told my sister that she was goign to have an 11 pound baby because she measured 4 weeks ahead. . . .and guess what? 7 lbs 4oz, her smallest one yet! So obviously this stuff isn't as accurate as we'd like.

I'm not sure what NASCAR series they're talking about but Daytona is Feb 14, and I really don't want to miss that I'm probably the only NASCAR fan in here! Of course by then, I'd be overdue, and I don't really think I'll go past my due date...

Glad everything is ok, and I hope you enjoy your maternity leave!

LOL so I'm not the only one getting restrictions on when we can have the baby.. If I have the baby the 13-14 I will not get my doctor to deliver... I really want him to. Other than that he normally delivers 24 hours a day 7 days a week! To me that's insane but he must be loaded $$$$$. No wonder he claims he's delivered 10,000 babies

everyone also has requested we not have her on superbowl weekend!!! My mom and her fiancee are going to a superbowl party and they want us to come because if I go into labor the house will be full of CHP (CA highway patrol), firefighters, and paramedics. That way I could have people deliver the baby or get a police escort to the hospital. Funny thing is they are not entirely joking!!!!

Thanks everyone for also helping to calm my nerves about measuring so behind. I kept reading it was something to worry about but I'm really just trusting in my doc. He's very confident.

@ Crystal--- OMG how scary for your sister thinking she was going to have such a big baby!!!!!!!! good thing it tuned out to be 7lbs.. that would be perfect for me... yikes what if my kiddo found a secret compartment in there and is hiding extra weight!!! she could be a 9lb-er and I don't even know it!

@ Angie, I think I got it confused... on the 14th they are going to a nascar party...

i guess it's the following weekend when nascar will be here in fontana, CA and they are working attending that race =0 )

@ midnite thank you for the name compliment. DH an I actually met because of our time in Hawaii. He was military and I was a student. We are totally beach people (skimboarders). We figured all of our kids would get Hawaiian names. Kali is Hawaiian for hesitant/hesitating..... and we had a loss and were told we lost this baby too so we figured God was hesitant about blessing us with a baby (it made us stronger).

There's also a scary Hindu goddess named Kali... she's a good goddess but can be a bad one too.... but I didn't find this out til about 2 months ago.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously who freaking thought of that? So rude! I'm not a nascar fan, but we're using up all of our oil/unrenewable resources and people race around and around at over 150 MPH and "waste" gas and tires (which also comes from petroleum or trees...??) anyway 500 laps is wayyyy too much. I'm all for partying and hanging out but I'd get dizzy watching them go in circles for ages. but to each their own
