I got a phone call from the clinic this morning at 8:30 am saying that due to my doctors reccomendation they wanted me to come in today. They scheduled me in for 10:00 am, but they said because they had to shuffle appointments around I may go in later. I didn't get in till about 10:15.
The tech wasn't very talkative at first. The first few minutes felt like hours, I was so worried. Finally Alice asked if everything looked okay. He told us that he could find a heartbeat of 115 BPM and that BABY A was measuring a little over 7 weeks. Whilst BABY B was measuring 6 weeks 5 days. At first it didnt seem as though Baby B had a heartbeat but we finally picked one up which was 109 BPM. He said to go by an EDD of October 1st. I checked with a lady at the front and she said that I'm still booked in to have another U/S on the 15th. She also said they were sending everything over to my doctor and I'd be able to get a picture there.
I actually already had an appointment which was set up for today, so we went shopping and then went to see my GP. We had to wait about a half hour because there was some sort of emergency. Our DD wasn't bothered though, she had lots of people around her to smile at and "talk" too. He assured me that everything looked fine with both babies, I was still a little concerned about not being able to detect a heartbeat right away with Baby B. Though he told us we were lucky we got a heartbeat because often they can only pick up a heartbeat on one this early. So, I'm feeling a bit better about that. He also checked my blood pressure again and it looks pretty normal. He wasn't at all surprised that his suspicions were correct. He told me he would have been pretty concerned if I wasn't carrying twins. He also mentioned that my HCG levels are indicative of multiples.
I'm now on liquid iron, which may I add is absolutely revolting!!! He said to get my iron up to what it should be I'd literally have to overdose, which obviously I'm not going to do. So, he enforced about eating iron rich food and vitamin C. He also mentioned that later on in my pregnancy I may need to get some iron shots if it doesn't get any better. But I'll just have to wait and see what the midwives at Mater say. I haven't had a call from them yet, but from experience I know that the pregnancy assessment unit is ridiculously busy. So, I may not get a call from them until later today or tomorrow.
Sorry, I don't have a scanner, so I just had to take a picture of a picture. I'll try and get it scanned at my mates house soon.
Ok because I've been a total lurker here hoping to make my entrance very shortly I had to post and say I'm glad everything went so well with your u/s. When my cousin was pregnant with triplets they thought that baby b wasn't going to survive because she was a bit slower to catch up, but low and behold 6 months later she had 3 healthy babies

I am beyond nervous! But I have to admit, I am starting to get a little more excited about it. I so wasn't expecting this! Mind you, we have A LOT of twins and even a set of triplets in my family.
My GP suspected that we might be having multiples but we found out for sure at this U/S.
Next U/S is on the 15th! I'm still a little worried about Baby B, as I said I was assured that everything is okay, but still can't help to worry a bit.
That is wonderful! A twofer....you must be so excited! I too would love twins. Thats great! Your going to have an adventurous journey!

Congratulations on your twins! It's quite common for twins to be a couple of days apart in growth.. usually because one implanted later then the other.
My Twins are 2.5 now but during pg they hardly ever measured the same.
