I've been rather MIA lately, mainly because my brand of bedrest doesn't allow for just sitting, I have to be reclining, and I don't have a laptop. So, I feel guilty if I'm just sitting at a computer when I could have put my feet up for those minutes. I've been trying to read posts in 5 minute spurts, but I'm not so good at that either.

More background info: Saturday my BIL called and asked if he could drop off their 7 month old daughter as he was taking my sister to the ER for "stroke-like symptoms" and I live on their way to the ER (and all of 3 miles away). Of course I said yes and told them not to hurry, DH and my 13 year old niece were at home with me so I could handle two babies. Doctors just said that it was a migraine (totally typical in my family) and gave her imitrex and sent her on her way (essentially).

Sunday she came to my parents Super Bowl party where me and 5 of my siblings and all their children were as well. She still wasn't feeling great, so she didn't interact TOO much, but still, we were all there.

Today my BIL calls again and asks if I can come and pick up their little girl, since they needed to go to the ER again. I was in the car in about 90 seconds and on my way to their house to get her. Anyway, it now looks like she has viral meningitis (which is the better one to have if you're going to have it!) and has been admitted to ICU. My mom came and got my niece about 20 minutes ago.

My concern is this: incubation is 3-7 days. I spend a bit of time at her house because it is easier to not do things at someone else's house than it is to not do things at my own. We've never been a family to care about sharing drinks and she and I drank from the same Diet Coke bottle on Sunday. Plus a sip from the other's drink every once in a while. If she was still contagious when I drank from her bottle on Sunday (which all sites say she would have been) I could contract it too! Luckily, one of the sites said that if anything, I would contract the virus she had, not necessarily meningitis.

AND, if I've given this to my baby because he gives the slobbery-est kisses in the WORLD, I'm going to feel terrible. Or my DH, since I've kissed him a couple of times too.

Oh, and my OB is out of the office this week on vacation, so I don't even know if the other group in my docs office would even see me, or if they would want me to come in! I'm going to be a nervous wreck for a while.

((HUGS)) I'd be worried too.

If I were you I'd call who ever is taking your OB's call this week and just tell them what's going on.

I hope she gets well soon.

Oh dear, I agree, I would call in too, just to let them know. I hope she gets better and that you haven't caught anything

Call for sure! Just because your doctor isn't in doesn't mean they won't help you.

I'd be stressing out too!!! I hope that you all stay healthy, though. Definitely call your Dr. and DS's Dr. as well. They should be able to help you somehow!

I hope that your SIL feels better soon, and that you manage to avoid the bug! Sending T&P for you and your family.

I hope you're fine. Also...I couldn't survive bedrest without a laptop. Do you have any friends that have an extra one you could borrow for the last couple months? I know we have three in the house, but one of them is only good for internet stuff. Always great to have a backup.

I would try to get a hold of a doctor even if it was just a oncall doctor. Just to put your mind at rest. Hope your SIL gets better soon.

I agree with everyone else, to definitly call your OB department.. You are still a patient there, and your OB HAS to have someone covering his patients, he wouldn't just leave you guys hanging.

Good luck hun, KUP!
