Where would you put both car seats in a van? I'll have the booster fro DS and the baby carrier for the baby. I'm just not sure who should go behind the driver? I have a van if that helps any.

If Brighton is forward facing, put him behind the seat. That way if anything were to come through the windshield, he'd be protected better by the driver's seat.

That's where I have Max and then Meghan will be next to him in that center row.

I prefer the baby behind the driver. This way I can see them better in the baby mirror, if I'm in the passenger seat I can reach them, and when I put them in the car its easier to remain on the one side of the vehicle.

My van doesn't have a middle seat.

I just replied to you on fb But I'll do it here again too, so other people can see it.

We're keeping Kaija behind the driver for space issues. The carrier is too big to fit behind the driver seat if DH is driving, so that will go behind the passenger seat. In a van you could probably swap that if you wanted though. Does your van have 2 sliding doors?

it does. The middle seat I can move closer to either door if I want but it only has two seats and the back seat has three. There's plenty of room on either side.

I might put the seat closer to the driver side and put Brighton on the passenger side so you can reach across and buckle him in and then put the carrier in after that.

But flipping that makes sense too... If you can get the carrier in easier over Brighton's seat then put him in and buckle him up. Hmm... You might have to play with it!

That's what I'll be doing later day. I just washed the car seat so when it's dry I'll play with it.

We always put the rear facing seat on the passenger side and the forward facing behind the driver. Just makes me feel safer. That way there is always someone "shielding" the kiddo in the forward facing from glass or anything else.

i think that is what Amy is thinking too when she replied.

What I do is put my smaller child in the passenger seat in the back. that way if the baby really starts fussing or needs something, I can reach them while driving. I am alone with the kids in the van far more than with DH so I need to have that reach to get to the baby while driving if need be.

Come to think o fit I am also but with two kids how daring will I be to go out on my own with them at the same time? That's just a scary thought to me right now.

Ok guys, please please don't take this as me being judgmental or mean. But some of you actually drive and try to take care of the baby???? I pull over. I am too scared I am going to hit someone or something or drive off the road or something. Again, please don't take this the wrong way. Here in Texas they are getting stricter and stricter with distracted drivers and accidents.

I only do it when I'm at a stop sign or something like that. I have a few times while driving but it's always something simple like just giving them a cup, toy or there snack. Really it's just reaching behind and giving it to them. If I have to do more they have to wait.

Ok I'm confused on the seating of your van. Is it bucket seats for the center row or a bench seat?

Mine is a two seater bench. So the seat that's not behind the driver is more center with the windshield. Then the third row is a three seater bench. So Max is directly behind me and then Meghan will be in the center of the van next to him.

If you can only see one or the two spaces you're considering, I'd put the baby in the seat that you'll have the best visual of.

My van has bucket seats in the center. The baby will go in the bucket behind the driver and my dd is in the one behind the passenger.

LOL I pull over or when I'm stopped too. it's usually something like trying to hand them their pacifier or what not.

My van has the 2 bucket seats, i sometimes wish it had the bench seat, but where I am getting kiddo number 3 someone will have to be in the back anyways

I am keeping Kinley behind the driver seat in her convertible carseat-she won't be switched to a booster for a long time-and Karsyn will go in the infant seat in the middle.

I have a Cadillac escalade with buckets in the middle. DD will be behind passenger, DS will be behind driver.

We'll have the baby behind the driver side in the van and truck...my youngest has a booster so he can get in and out himself - usually who ever is driving is grabbing the baby!
