This weekend I'm taking a trip to Walmart and going to pick up some things for my hospital bag and days after I deliver. Is there anything I should buy that you ladies really thought helped?

Here is what I'm thinking of purchasing based on other's stories:

1.) Dermablast

2.) Tuck's pads (someone said even if I don't get them, the cooling sensation is nice)

3.) High-waisted granny panties (in case I have to get a c-section, someone said to make sure you don't have low-rise undies b/c it could irratate the incision, AND after delivery and couple days after, you bleed a lot, so just to buy some ugly ones so you can toss them).

4.) Flip-flops to wear in shower and then throw away

5.) Nursing tank (but I might go to Target for this, since a lot of women liked Target's nursing tanks. I read you should have a nursing bra in your bag so you can wear it home.

6.) Pads--both jumbo and reg. for lighter days

Is there anything else you recommend? I have a lot of soaps/shampoo's etc. from when I travel, so I really don't think I need anything, but if I do I'm just getting travel size stuff--like maybe travel size deoderant, etc.

I'm also hoping they sell some inexpensive, comfy lounge type clothes so I can still be comfy but look somewhat "dressed" for the handful of guests we will be having visit us. A girlfriend said not to buy anything expensive, b/c you might bleed through, and lounge-wear/yoga wear ain't cheap! I'm also hoping to find one or two zip up hoodies so I can wear my tank and the hoodie and call it a day.

I'd check with your hospital...mine provided tons of Dermablast for me to use there and take home. I literally still have some from when DS was born.

Good idea to already be getting everything together, though! I suppose I should do that, too.

I still have a can of Dermablast left from DD too! I also have half a pack of super-heavy-duty pads left over. I think your list is pretty complete along with the other suggestions.

I think Im gonna bring my Preggo-yoga pants so if they get "messed up" I wont mind, since this is my last baby!!

(OH if you have a baby book, bring that for his/her foot prints, and a camera!)

lansinoh lanolin
breast pads
soothie nipple pads

just a note, be carefully about what the hospital "gives" you. That stuff was NOT free for me. The gave me a pack of soothies for my nipples and then charged me $35 for them on the hospital bill...

Oh yeah lol nothing is free at the hospitals! I actually got charged for the pillows that I used! I should have taken them home if I was gonna be billed for them! Dang aspirin is like $7 per pill at the hospital. Its craziness!

I mentioned this once before a long time ago, but the Schick razors that have the shaving cream already on them (I think they are called "intuition") are awesome!

I don't know that you would necessarily need them at the hospital, but they were nice to have post-partum, made shaving much less strenuous.

I loved using my own pillow in the hospital, I did not take any pads as the hospital supplied me with them while I was there...

Thanks for the input guys.

I don't know how to quote people, but Diana and Dondra, Dermablast is this spray you spray down there to numb your girlie parts (I think?)

Hospital Bag, Hospital Bag Checklist, Pregnancy Hospital Bag - HospitalBag.org is your answer

This site has a nice little printable list. I would add a few things on but it's a nice starting point

Cell phone, Camera and extra camera batteries.

If you get bored easily make sure you bring a good book or two. My babies both had jaundice and had to stay under the lights. I could only hold them every 2 hours and there was nothing good on tv in between. I thought I was going to go crazy with boredom!

Socks/slippers
snacks for after the baby is born
lip balm
nursing pads and nipple cream

That's all I can think of right now!

This is a great post! I plan on packing my bag soon too and those were great suggestions. I'm glad we live so close to the hospital so DH can go home to get anything I forget...I just know I'll end up forgetting something important! But again, thanks for the tips everyone!
