I have like 900 sq feet of them in my livingroom, dining room and hallway. Sweeping all that gets old and makes my back hurt now days.

Do any of you have recs for a good hard floor vacuum/sweeper instead? I have a Dyson but it leaves scrapes on the floor so I can't use it.

Well it might not be the best job, but could you get Josh and Emily to do it? Max has fun sweeping our kitchen and though it's not as good as I'd like, it at least helps. You could even make it a competition between them to see who can do the better job.

We have all hardwood on the first floor, along with two big dogs and my DD's constant crumbs. I LOVE my Eureka The Boss little canister vacuum for the hard floors... it's awesome! Also extends great so it gets cob webs, easy to use on stairs with the little attachment etc. For washing I don't like the idea of mopping (dirty water going back down, gross) so I have a hoover floormate, had an earlier model for the past 3yrs that worked great but I just upgraded to this one from costco since it had better spinning brushes, LOVE IT! Costco - The Hoover® FloorMate? SpinScrub®

This isn't the exact model of Eureka I have (mine has a hepa filter and is red) but its basically the same thing: Walmart.com: Eureka The Boss Mighty Mite Canister Vacuum: Appliances

I couldn't imagine living w/o either of them. I love the eureka canister so much I have another for the basement

I also have a Eureka canister vacuum that I use on my laminate floors that I love!! It has a wood floor attachment that I use all the time! I RARELY sweep my floor at all... just vacuum.

I use my vacuum attachment for the hardwood and laminate also. Out dog is a shedding machine so we have fur balls everywhere.

I never sweep my floors either, I just have a little stick vacuum that works great. Then I got a spray cleaner that I put on this towel thats on the bottom of a broom stick thingy from Menards to mop.

I just use a cheap vacuum from Wal mart...its small and light weight-perfect for laminates-not so much for carpet lol......but I hate cleaning the laminates (all in my kitchen, dining room and hallway) I just vacuum it-then use the Pledge for laminates on a cloth mop

We just have a swiffer vac, and it works pretty good.

Edit: I should note that our whole condo is only 980 sq ft, so I'm not sure how this would be for BIG jobs.

The only laminate we have is our kitchen and we either vacuum it (with an off brand cheap vacuum given to us) or I use a swiffer dry pad on it.. but the dry pad only works to an extent.. I'm not much help lol

btw 900sqf? that sounds big lol

It is! The only carpet in my home is in the bedrooms. The rest is laminate. It seemed like a great idea at the time. I didn't realize how hard it would be to keep it swept and mopped all the time.

Amanda, that's how our house is going to be...we have laminate that looks like hardwood throughout the first floor, and then carpet only in the bedrooms. I'm honestly looking forward to keeping it clean compared to having to keep a house full of carpet clean.

We have laminate in the whole house now, except vinyl in the hall and bathroon because I can't stand carpet!!! I use a swiffer dry pad to sweep and the wet pads to clean\mop. Much easier on my back I find.
