I plan to talk to my midwife about this at my next appointment on Monday but I figured I would ask here out of curiosity. Starting in December my fundal? measurements were ahead. I had an ultrasound around that time and both baby and fluids all measured perfectly to date. At my last appointment I was 30 weeks my fundal measurement was 36.5 weeks and I had gained 46lbs by that time. She immediately ordered me an ultrasound which I had at 31 weeks. The baby measured 34 weeks - 4lbs 6oz. On top of it all, complete strangers ask when I am due and are surprised that its not until April. People keep asking if I am carrying twins or something.

So I guess I am wondering if its possible that my due date should be sooner? Is this baby going to come early or am I just having a big baby/carrying a lot of fluids. I want to be prepared if this baby is coming earlier! And yes, there is only baby in there!

I don't think that's too big. Maybe your baby just hit a growth spurt? Definitely ask though and let us know what your midwife says.

Some people gain more weight and have bigger babies... as long as your dates are right on I wouldn't plan on your baby coming any sooner just because you're both measuring bigger. I gained 60lbs with my first DD and she was 9lbs 13oz 21.5" and I had to be induced at 41wks to get her out.

At my 28wk ultrasound this baby was measuring 1 1/2wks bigger, noone has mentioned how big I'm measuring and I haven't gained nearly as much (but I was heavier in the first place this time)... I asked if they would change my c-section date if she was measuring really big at my 32wk (on Monday) and I was told that they won't change any dates due to size since they care about lung maturity not how big the baby is so my earliest is 39wks unless I go into labor sooner or my water breaks.

I think the only time they change dates is if you weren't sure in the first place and those first couple dating ultrasounds are off, as long as things at the beginning progressed normally then some babies are just bigger then others.

At my 29 week appt, my fundal height was 36 weeks. I had an ultrasound right before and I had tons of extra fluid plus my lil guy is also measuring about 2 weeks ahead. I have only gained 12 pounds so far. I will be having another ultrasound at my next appt and we shall see how big he is now. I know with me, they are keeping an eye on the fluid because it could send me into pre-term labor, but other than that, they have no worries about the size of my lil guy or anything.

The most accurate ultrasounds for dating are the early ones because there are things that don't show up until a certain week. So at this point, it's not really about date but just size. It's more likely that you have a big baby rather than an older baby.

Thanks ladies that definitely helps. I had a feeling nothing had changed, but after so many comments I started to get a little worried. I'm sure they'll monitor everything and would let me know if something was wrong. I haven't been eating unhealthy at all with the exception of some treats here and there so I have a feeling I am retaining a lot of fluid.
