Need some input from mommas that have little boys. We've been having an occasional issue of Lucas peeing through his diapers - one night I changed his outfit 3 times because he soaked through. I initially thought perhaps it was because he had just been circumsized & we were still putting vaseline on him, which was preventing the diapers from absorbing the pee. However, its happened outside of those instances, prior to his circ and after, as well. I changed his diaper this morning and not even 5 minutes later I felt this warm wet spot forming in my hand, he had peed and it leaked through his suit.

My question is: Is there a certain way I should be, *ahem*, 'aiming' his penis when I change him and put a fresh diaper on so this doesn't happen? Most of the time the pee seems to leak out the side by his hip and back. Or, is it just a matter of the diapers not absorbing (we're using Pampers, but I put a Huggies diaper on him after he peed this morning, so we'll see)? We've gone through the "make sure the diapers are on securely....tabs almost touching in the front" ordeal........that's not the issue. And we're changing him often (as I said, it happened less than 5 minutes after I changed him this morning).

we aim easton's down and it works....sometimes it's gonna happen but not that often plus it could be the type of diaper too and the way it fits

Dexter started leaking out of his newborn diapers, so I put him in size 1- its only been a day so we'll see if that works. He is uncirc'd so his penis usually points itself down. What size is your baby in and how much does he weigh? It could be that the diaper is getting too small, but I also think some diaper brands don't fit certain babies as well as others.

We had a huge issue with this at the hospital and when we first got home with Dalton. We were using Pampers and Huggies - and both were not working - I was chaning his clothes with every diaper change.

We finally realized that when he would pee -- the pee would roll down and through the diaper -- as opposed to being absorbed like it should be. (We actually caught this when he peed during one of his diaper changes and we saw it just roll along on the inside of the diaper).

We finally switched to Size 1's - Luvs -- and we don't have that problem at all anymore. Yes, they are a little big on him (high on the waist) -- (he was a preemie at 5 weeks early) -- but the Size 1's seem to work so much better than the preemie and NB sizes.

If you have any size 1 samples -- you might want to try it. Good luck to you!

We had that issue too. We went through so many sheets and outfits the first week. I always tried to aim down, but he would still leak like crazy. Going the next size up from nb to 1's helped tremendously, but would still leak every once in awhile. I think it was just his size and was using too small of diapers. He was over 8 lb when he born and gained weight like crazy and the diapers couldn't keep up!

I agree with PP's in that it could be that he is pointed to the side, just make sure he's pointed down, or the diapers are too small.

Lucas is 7lbs 10oz now and is in newborn diapers. I tried a size 1 on him, but it practically swallowed him and was gaping in spots, so I took it off. I'll work on the aim and see if that does the trick. We have Pampers, Luvs and Huggies of differing sizes, so we'll experiment!

We had that problem with our ds, we tried aiming it different ways and different sizes but nothing worked. The only brand that he didn't pee out of was the Sam's brand, it was 5 years ago so I don't remember what they were called. I think with boys it has a lot to do with the way the brand fits, you just have to experiment and find what brand works for him.

I had this problem with one of my older boys and thought for sure it was the diaper that was the problem. I even called the company and complained that their diapers leaked terribly. I had used them with all my other children with no problems. They suggested I go to the next size up. Sure enough that worked just fine. I never paid attentiont to where it was aiming when I put their diapers on. So far Benjamin has been leak free as far as pee goes.

Never changed the aim, but with both boys, going up a size did the trick.

I use size 1 huggies which are still a little big so I fold them down and under at the top and have no problems. The folding might be catching more.. I've always used huggies with my boys though pampers always leaked for me.

Nolan pees up his back. Even though he wears newborn clothes, the newborn diapers were causing it everytime. So he wears 1s now which are a little high on him but he rarely leaks. His points 'up' all the time or flops to the left but he would only ever be wet on his back so i think its running down his hip and up his back where he's laying flat. I just make sure the diaper is super snug and pulled up at his legs as high as it will go. Seems to help

Nolan was 7lbs 3ozs Friday btw

so as the other mamas have said, mason has had the same issue! I would take the diaper off and there would be pee in the front of the diaper and in the back of the diaper but none in the middle, dont know how though! When we change him now we make sure that we "aim" his penis down...he has the occasional leak but its not four times a night......it will get better!

This also happened to my newbirn and i tried everything - Going up a diaper size, double diapering, Making sure edges around legs are fanned out, pointing penis downward - but nothing worked.

What did wirk for me was leaving a gauze pad on his penis inside the diaper (i secured it in pace with a dot of desitin cream). I am a,so using a thristies diaper cover just in case, but i think the gauze pad is sufficient. No leaks as of yet! Hope this helps!
