I have a question. I have been having a sharp to dull pain in my upper right abdominal area like under my right breast. I have had a different feeling when the baby puts pressure there and this feels different. It is more of something deeper. I have had headachs and been so tired I can't keep awake in most normal parts of the day. For example, I went to breakfast with dh and couldn't stay awake on our drive home, then 15 mins later we were heading to see my sister and I feel asleep in the car again. This is after a fairly decent night of sleep. I know you feel normally tired in pregnancy, but this is extreme. I have never been like this. Something just feels wrong. I didn't know that the upper area is where my liver is located. I am nervous I could have ICP or something wrong with my liver. My midwife is nervous also and having me do a 24 hour urine testing and bloodwork on my liver. I also found out in this appt that I failed my 1 hour glucose test and now have to do the three hour. All of this is happening and my dh leaves Monday for Korea for a year. He is a nervous wreck.
I was just wondering if anyone who has anything wrong with their liver, not just ICP, but anything if they can relate and tell me how things worked out. I am nervous myself. It may be nothing or everything.

I don't know what that is, but I am sorry you are going through all this stress so close to deployment.

I have a mom friend from another board who has had ICP with 2 of her pregnancies. The first they didn't find out in time and the 2nd they induced her early and had her on hospital bedrest. Are your palms and feet itchy?

If you want I can try and hook u up with her....pm me if you want.

I had a period I was extremely itchy this pregnancy so the drs test me for it. My liver bile in my blood came back normal but my liver enzymes were elevated for some reason. They were going to retest the liver enzymes but I finally got a referrla to a civilian dr so now I am not sure what they will be doing until I go see the new dr.

with icp usually its not all over itchiness just palms and feet. its something that can be more severe with each pregnancy so you have to be careful. unfortunately many doctors and midwives miss it, as was the case with my friend. so i'm glad to hear a couple of docs think about it and actively test for it...it can cause stillbirth usually after 37wks unless very severe.

ICP is intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy. It is a liver disorder that causes the backup of bile in the blood.
They say that itching is present in palms and feet but that many women itch all over. I haven't noticed my palms so much as my feet and all over my body to include my belly, my legs, and my arms. It gets worse at night or when I have done a lot in the day. I am nervous but I am going to go Monday for bloodwork and hopefully find out sometime next week. Thank you for the replies.
