At this stage if I think I might be having contractions do I need to wait until they are regular to go up and get checked out? I've been having tightenings with really bad cramping and lower back pain since Saturday morning (Its Monday morning now). They don't come in any particular pattern but they do seem to be getting more intense and painful. I had about TMI 5 bouts of diarrhea Saturday 1 Sunday morning and nothing since. Do I need to go get checked or do they have to be regular? I really cannot remember the protocol when it comes to this sort of thing... help?

*update*
I called midblock (L&D) and fortunately got one of the only midwives up there that I like
she wants me to come up so I'm leaving now I'll update when I get home. Hopefully its just something like a UTI.

hmm I am not sure. I would call your doctor's office and tell them what you feel and see what they think you should do.

because you're only 24 weeks, I'd definately contact your doctor... TRY to keep track of when you get the contractions, because your doctor will probably ask about the regularity of them... (((Hugs)))

My doctor isn't in on Monday's he's actually in the hospital in surgery all day so if I went up to midwifery (L&D) he'd probably be able to come up and see me, but at the same time I really don't want to make a big deal out of nothing kwim?

Oh and some come like within minutes then it might lay off for a few hours

Still call the office. They will have you talk to one of his nurses and explain so they can tell you if they think you should go in to the hospital or not!

I would go in if you are concerned about it. I have been having BH contractions, craping and lower back pain since Friday and my dr. said it was normal but to contact them if I have 6 in an hr.

i think you should get checked out. even w/o the contractions being regular, id want to know what the deal was with the diarrhea and make sure you dont have a stomach virus or something.

I googled prem labor and it said 5 or more in an hour but Ive been non stop cramping and have had like 2 of the really intense pains in the last hour. I'm going to call soon just to see what the midwifes think anyway. I'm just waiting the kids are really unwell (colds) and so is Chris so I'm trying to work out a few things with them before I call because I know they'll ask me to come up and if I wait like an hour they might think that its not that bad or something kwim?
