Dear all:

I know this has nothing to do with pregnancy, but it definitely affects my family.

One of our little dachshunds is having trouble using her back legs. The vet has given her steriods so the swelling has gone down, and she's no longer in pain, but she may have permanent nerve damage - her back legs don't work right.

We may have to get those little weiner wheels they wear on their back end, but the vet thinks that if she goes to a neurologist that he's arranging today, the damage might not be permanent so maybe she can walk again if all goes o.k.

She's not in any life-threatening danger, but she loves to run around, so please pray for her/send her positive thoughts so hopefully she can be able to walk again.

Thanks,

Voodoo Lady

Awe, bless her little heart! I have 3 wienies myself and often worry about their backs. I have a good friend who has had both of her wiener dogs operated on (they did great with their surgery). It's always something in the back of my mind. Hope she is ok!!!

aww i'm so sorry that your little sweety is having to deal with this! i really hope that it isn't permanent and that her legs begin to function properly again. If she does need the wheels, I must say that those pups seem to adjust so well to those

Awwh I am so sorry to hear this and I will pray for your fur baby. I did want to tell you however that I knew a dash who had to have this done and the pup was super resiliant it didn't bother her at all. I think it bothered us more than it bothered her. She was the same as before so if that helps you feel better just understand that that dogs bounce back pretty well and they aren't as self concious about their disabilities as us as humans are.

So sorry to hear this! My dog had the same type of issue two weeks ago although his injury turned out to be a slipped disc that could not be repaired. If they would have operated then we would have had to do the wheels too. Positive thoughts for you and weinie!!

*hugs*
I am sorry to hear that your pup isn't doing well. I have a dachsund (sp?) as well and they are wonderful creatures.
I hope the damage isn't permanent.
