Thursday I was having some cramps that were pretty intense. I called the nurse right before the office was closing and didn't get a call back till the morning. She took down my symptoms and said she would give my chart to the doctor. 7 hours later..(yeah I was pretty angsty by this point) she called back and said "well the dr. never gave me your chart back but I talked to some other people in the office and you'll be okay". I was upset, but since I didn't have any bleeding I decided not to go postal on her but I still felt uneasy. Around 8pm, my lovely, awesome, AMAZING doctor called me, apologized profusely that he didnt get to look at my chart during office hours and wanted to check and see if the cramps had went away or gotten worse. I told him they were about the same and he told me that he would fit me on in Monday for an appt. and ultrasound even though he had surgery all day.

He is seriously the best doctor I have ever had. I guess the point of posting this is I know a few of you ladies have had bad experiences with your docs and there may be some first time mama's out there who will have craptastic docs. It's your right to have an awesome doctor that you trust and looks out for you. We are pregnant too long not to have someone who supports us medically and is always looking out for our best interest.

I agree lilylove- I have an amazing doctor as well. I've had two m/c and both times i didn't have an appt. he fit us in and spent hours with us in between seeing his other patients. My Dr and My husband get along fabulously, as if they were old drinking buddies. Before this Dr I had a horrible woman Dr, she had NO bedside manner, she would never talk to me, always had her nurse do the talking. So there is hope ladies, just keep looking!!

Me too. I am pretty positive as I know a lot of ladies have cramping in early pregnancy, but I just want to make sure because I didn't have any cramping with my DD.

I totally agree there are wonderful doctors and midwives out there. just because you don't click with one, doesn't mean you wont with another. Or even a totally different practice for that matter. Know what you want, and don't be afraid to change OB/midwives if your current provider is not providing what you want.

I didn't cramp with DD either but the cramping/pressure I'm having now is pretty awful! No bleeding though, maybe its a 2nd time around thing?

Congrats on the awesome doc. I've got an appt on Wednesday with what I hope is an awesome doc. The one I had with DD had *NO* personality whatsoever.

That is just wonderful to hear! And I'll be watching for your ultrasound update on Monday when I post mine

I adore my midwifery practice, every single one of them. I've had nothing but the most amazing care, both physically and emotionally. Our first was a very unplanned and rocky pregnancy since DH and I were having a TON of problems and they were so supportive through all of it. It was nice to know they wanted to get to know everything about us, not just my medical history.
