I went to the GD class today (dr. wanted me to go even though I haven't had the 3 hour test since my 1 hour came back elevated).

The instructor (who is a diabetes doctor) gave us a lot of very good information.

The thing is, I'm always on a diet. I'm overweight and before getting pg, I was doing weight watchers. I was looking forward to having a little bit of a break from weighing and counting everything. Now, the program I have to be on is so much harder than weight watchers!

I had the hope that I might pass my 3-hour test and not have to worry about it, but they gave us a glucose meter to check our bs levels and I know after only two readings that I'm going to fail that test. 2 hrs after lunch, my bs was in the 170's and 2 hrs after dinner it was in the 220's.

I just want to cry. (oh wait, I am crying)

I want to do what's best for me and the baby, so I'll follow the program, but I'm just so upset.

I have no expirence with this but I can imagine it would be really hard to deal with. Pregnancy has so many interwining obsticals that can definatly make it a challenge. Stay strong and just do your best.

I am so sorry you are feeling down. Try to look at the bright side of it. It was discovered early and you and your little one will be safe now. Strict diet does suck though.. What is it like? Are there any special foods to eat/ on not eat?

i totally know how you feel!! I had GD with my ds, i had just started stable recovery from a 12 year battle with a severe eating disorder. i was so pissed that i was finally able to enjoy eating - and bammm i'm on a diet. HUGs i know it sucks - but it is soooooo worth it and if you do have it it does go away once baby is born. GL on passing the 3 hour!!!!

I'm sorry, I imagine analyzing everything would make eating not fun AT ALL! Hang in there. The benefits will be worth it.

Oh, Kim! I'm worried about GD too, so I sympathize greatly. I know it is even much more strict than what diabetics need to do because there are two beings counting on the insulin management than just one. Sugar free foods may be your best friend, even though they have the artificial sweetners in them, I'm told they can be a GD's best friend to help get through all the struggle of carb and sugar counting.

I'm just praying you can pass that test.

I just hope this struggle with GD is one that can be easly done for you. I know so many women have a hard time even with the right foods, so Im praying that this diet works good for you and your able to stroll through this pregnancy and end up on top!
