My oven has been inoperable for ages but is back up and running. I need some inspiration for dinner and dessert!

What's for dinner mamas? Do you have a favorite dessert recipe you would share?

I'm not usually a dessert person but have been lately!

After 4 years and one week we just got a Stove/Oven. So I am in the same boat as you. I am wondering what to do with this new applience in my Kitchen!

We bought the flat topped so we could can stuff from our garden. However they had Strawberries on sale so we bought some to practice with. So to answer your question of what is cooking.... It's Strawberry Jam.

I had some chicken to use but wasn't totally in the mood for it. So I baked it, let it cool then made a yummy chicken salad. I usually add celery and grapes which I didn't have so today I put some raisins and chopped pickles in it... plus the usual mayo, some mustard and seasonings... it might be my new recipe!
Hmmmm dessert. Don't have anything ready to go. I've been trying not to buy too many sweets. But there is a box of brownies staring me in the face in the cabinet.

Since it's in the mid 70s tonight, we're grilling some yummy juicy cheeseburgers (first ones of the season!). I can't wait!

Went out to dinner tonight! But I love to cook and since I'm off of work this week and I was sick in the first trimester...I am treating my family to home cooked meals all week!

Ribs
Chicken noodle soup
Mac and cheese bake
Flank steak
Goulash (one of my first graders gave me her favorite recipe...who knew a 6 year old knew good food...)

And Easter leftovers =)

Rachel Ray made a spinach pasta alfredo today and I really think I want to try it! Although the cheese in it might kill me!!!

OH..and do any of you know pretzel jello??? Because THAT is the BEST DESSERT EVER and I'd be glad to share the recipe!!!

I don't know no pretzel jello.

I don't cook dessert here, hardly ever ever. Partly it's about not keeping it in the house, so when I want/need it we go get something prepared usually. That and I'm married to a baker, so 99% of the time if a dessert gets baked it's him doing the baking. If anyone has any requests for specific pies, cookies, breads... that kinda thing, just lemme know. He does too many to just start spouting them. LOL The only thing I do is brownies out of a box!!

What's cooking? Quick foods, because lately when I get hungry I need to eat pretty darn quickly, which is NOT our usual way. Usually I spend an hour to an hour and a half cooking dinner, sometimes less on lunch.

Lately we've had - chili dogs, chicken fajita quesadillas, Pasta Salad with canned chicken mixed in, sandwiches with lots of fresh veggies and bread n butter pickles, pizza rolls (kids get a choice each shopping trip)....

On the menu for the upcoming week includes hamburger steaks which I'm looking forward to hubby cooking, and another day fried catfish, which I'm also looking forward to hubby cooking.
