We had a 3 year old around here who did the same thing We have window blinds, and we have a little gadget we screwed to the wall next to the blinds where we wrap the cord around... It's WAAAY higher than any kid can get to. It is so sad, and it is SOO important to childproof the house, even the things we don't think are real hazards can be deadly.

I'm so so sorry for this family. What a sad tragedy.

What a sad story...that poor little boy

We got all new blinds installed in our house. They don't have strings, they just push up and pull down. Those with cords are so scary...you never know what will happen. My T & P's are with that little boy and his family.

This is so sad. So unfair that a young life ends in such accident. T&P for the family...

Such a tragic story. We have blinds in our living room and all the bedrooms, but I loop the strings up over the top so the kids can't reach them. I'll sacrifice the semi-ugliness of it hanging like that in order to be sure the kids are safe.

I haven't seen the looped ones in a LONG time. I have regular blind but I usually but them because the cats play with them and drives me crazy.

Which kind are they? The ones with the cords? I guess that's what we have? That's so scary

We have blinds with short cords so Owen can't reach them, but I still tuck the cords in just to be sure. It is so sad to hear these stories, but really important for moms to be and current moms to think about every possible scenario in the house...Owen has gotten into some things I never ever thought he could find or reach.
