We had our Level II u/s today and baby shows no markers for Down Syndrome and appears healthy. I have been struggling the last few weeks after receiving abnormal AFP blood results back putting me at high risk for Downs. Still not completely in the clear but feel much better now after being told we have less then one half percent chance of baby having it
The other great news is we are having another GIRL! My poor husband, he wanted a boy soo bad and it was his last chance (I'm 35 now and won't be having anymore).
I know he excited to see a healthy baby on the screen but I hope he doesn't always feel he missing something as he goes through life. I know if the tables were turned I don't know what I would do without having a girl of my own

Congratulations!! That must be SUCH a relief! And yay for a little girl! Be sure to give your DH time to "grieve" the idea of not having a son. He will come around and wouldn't be able to imagine his life any other way.

Congrats on the healthy little girl! I know what you mean about being relieved with these u/s, I've got mine on the 20th and the gender is just icing on the cake, I really need to see that all looks healthy with no markers for Down's or other illnesses either. I've got my bloodwork today. So nervous!!!

You deserve to really relax and celebrate with your great news

I'm so happy for you that your level II u/s showed a healthy baby with no markers of down's. Your post couldnt have come at a better time for me as I just recieved a call this morning about getting a possitive AFP test. I should be getting a call this afternoon from my dr. offfice to schedule my level II. You really give me hope that everything can turn out alright. Congrats on your healthy baby girl!

Yay for healthy little girls. Don't you worry he will come around just give him some time to adjust to knowing he won't have a son. That little girl is going to have Daddy wrapped a million times around her little finger.

Congrats on your little girl! Definitely give your DH some space to get adjusted to the idea of a little girl -- my DH was a little disappointed that the NT scan suggested our little one was going to be a girl. It took him a couple of days, but then he started planning out her athletic career! I suspect that when the gender scan confirms a little girl, he'll need another couple of days to get used to it.

Congrats on your healthy baby girl! I'm sure you are so relieved right now!

Don't worry about DH - he'll get used to the fact that it will be PINK, PINK, PINK and before long - you'll see that he will be quite happy to have Daddy's Little Girl.
