I must be a magnet for male attention or something, because it seems like wherever I go, men like to comment on me breastfeeding my son! I hope I"m not the only one out there, because I very much try to make myself as obsolete as possible--I do not like having attention!!
The first one happened back on Mothers Day when we went out for a nice brunch at our local golfclub. I was nursing Kaedence, underneath my udder cover, and a man about 60 years old or so said to me "Whatcha hiding under there?" and came closer, almost like he wanted to take a peek!!!! I had no idea what to say (what would I say, "a baby, sir??") so I just sort of laughed and went back to eating. ?????
Yesterday, I met my MIL at McDonalds to drop off the boys (they are staying with them this weekend while hubby and I go to Michael Buble). I hide in the back booth by the playplace so I can watch Brayden also, and all of a sudden a man, about 30 or so, who had a 7 year old and a 6 month old girl, said to me "Now THAT'S the way to do it! Are you breastfeeding her under there? (he assumed it was a girl). I said "yep." and sort of tried to show that I wasn't comfortable talking about it. He THEN went on to say that "My wife is LARGE breasted (and he cupped his own breasts) so she goes into another room to do it. She gave me enough pumped milk for today, though!!" WOW, thank you so much for sharing! ha ha
Oh yeah, and then he said that "My wife could be on that show "I didn't know I was pregnant" because we found out on Jan 7 she was pregnant and she was BORN the 27th!!!" OMG!!!!!!! He said "We thought she had a lump of cancer and was going to die or somethin."
Just wanted to share these funny tidbits--how about everyone else!?!?!?

LOL! What funny experiences!
I can't say I've had anyone comment at all, this far. I actually am not out that much in public and if I am it's usually between feedings just for a bit.
I think I drew more attention with a cover, so I stopped using it. Now most people think I am just holding him until they get a little closer and they just look away embarrassed for staring, haha.
I haven't had to nurse in public as of yet. I have in my car but not while out and about. I usually bring bottles for when I'm at restaurants or in a store. But that's just TOO funny! They should feel like Dumb ***'s but are too dumb to know it!

I've had men commend me on breast feeding before, but it didn't really bother me. At my mom's memorial I was out in the lobby bfing in a corner and one guy started coming over to see the baby not realizing what I was doing (mind you I am usually well covered but that dress was a bit tricky) and when I told him he got SO embarassed and quickly fled. I wasn't really embarassed, but It hen felt SO bad for him. He was one of those sweet shy guys and you could tell it really upset him that he thought he bothered me or something.
i've only had my dh's stepmom, she came over when jhett was about a week old, and sat SUPER close to me and like, touched my boob and whispered "are you breastfeeding? or bottle feeding??" lol. why whisper??
A "not so bright girl" who is dating a friend of mine said to me, "are you cold?" when she saw me sitting on the couch one evening with a blanket over my shoulders. (feeding Evan)
I agreed with Heather about the cover. I think they think that maybe you're just snuggling a sleeping baby and so they want to come see. I remember that with my first.
While waiting to go back durin g one of andrew's pedi visits it was taking forever and andrew was getting hungry. There was a guy and his son waiting too. I didn't have my cover with me but was hoping to go back soon. The guy tells me to take care of my baby that it wouldn't bother him and proceeds to read a book to his son. I was very greatful that day!

Lindsay, I had to laugh at your stepmom's whispering! LOL
Alicia, my DH is shy like that and would be mortified just like that guy was.
Are you cold? Ha ha!
Heather and Maria, you are probably right. Maybe they just think I am covering the baby to sleep or something, never thought of that.
Amanda, that is so nice of him to say that. I think this guy was maybe trying to say the same thing, but just in his own special way.
I am thinking that I am just going to give bottles of EBM from now on in public. Even though its more work for me, it's worth it to not have the conversations!!
