My sister wants to host a shower for me, but she isn't privvy to my circle of friends/acquaintences, for those I'd love to invite...nor does she use FB and I don't have many addresses....what is the protocol for such a thing? How does one obtain addresses for people to send an invitation to in these circumstances?

I'm not sure if this is proper protocol...

The person hosting my shower is doing all of the inviting through e-vite. I am providing the email addresses for any he doesn't already have.

I work at a software company and all of my friends are on email/facebook etc... It's pretty customary in our circle to use electronic invitations for things.

I'm having another shower ... more like a "Sprinkle" with DHs family and one of his aunts will just coordinate that via telephone.

I do plan to have a Guestbook at my shower and will ask that people leave their names and physical addresses. I'm also having mom collect addresses for me from back home, and am collecting family addresses. I'm going to store these on some online site so when the baby comes I can just upload a picture and mail out announcements.

What I did was get everyone addresses so my mom could send them an invite.

Okay, so it wouldn't be "tacky" if I were to ask for addresses?

I'm going to make a list of addresses and people that need to be contacted via fb. My sis-in-law uses fb though so that shouldn't be a problem.

My sister sent out an e-invite for mine so she just asked for emails

I definitely don't think it's tacky to ask for addresses. That way you'll also have them to send out thank you cards!
