So, I have no idea what the nursery will look like. i have time to figure that out. That isn't where I'm "stuck" and need your feedback and ideas.

A friend did her nursery for her son with some of the chorus of "You Are My Sunshine" around the top of the room (like a border.) When I saw that, I thought "OMG! That's perfect! I want to do the same!" because my mom used to wake me up singing that song. (which is messed up, as the song itself is morbid and sad - but the chorus is pretty on its own!)

I'm not too afraid of "copying" off of her and her idea. However...before I settle on that song specifically, I thought I'd think of other songs/lyrics that could be good for an infant/child's room. A lot of things I like is slightly more adult or love songs towards adults, not towards a child. I have considered "Dance to you fall, love till you die, raise the roof" (Carbon Leaf), but i'm not 100% on it.

Any of you have any ideas of songs/lyrics for us to consider? I realize it's a personal preference thing, but I feel like I have "writer's block" on this.

There are so many options! But I wanted to tell you I've heard a non morbid version of You Are My Sunshine:

You are my sunshine
my only sunshine
you make me happy
when skies are gray
You'll always know dear
how much I love you
Because I'll tell you
every day.

You can't go wrong with most Beatles. Not Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds or anything, but Imagine and All You Need is Love are great. Wasn't someone else doing a Beatles room? We have some fab four lyric inspired artwork that will be going in there.

I was thinking Beatles too, or Faith Hill songs popped in my head, as well as the theme for Titanic. There are just SOOOO many options!

First, lemme say thanks for the ideas so far! Keep 'em coming! (Might inspire someone else too!)

Second - I'm completely ashamed to say I don't have any John Lennon on my iTunes!! I will have to remedy this VERY soon. (tons of beetles, no john lennon by himself, other than christmas stuff)

Third - I think I have found some more options! (in no particular order): Elvis' "Love Me Tender" or "Can't Help Falling in Love With You"; John Denver's "Annie's Song"; John Lennon's "Imagine"

I'm still looking - but I have a few choices. And I found something to putting the house (rather than the kid's room) - "No Day But Today"

Golden Slumbers and Oh Darling are the two songs that my dad sang to me when I was a baby and we've already started singing them to our baby Especially Golden Slumbers. I heart that song so much!

Dh and I play Beatles Rockband weekly! It's out favorite game on PS3!

A Yellow Submarine room might be cute!

If you wanted to do a more lullaby-esque type theme, I would think about buying a lullabye or nursery rhyme book. Or just hanging out at the bookstore/library and flipping through a bunch.

is there a song that's special to you and dh/so?

Ours for our babies is this song by Nickel Creek:
NICKEL CREEK LYRICS - When You Come Back Down

I could easily paint the chorus in ALL of their rooms as its so special to us

[QUOTE=~MK~;20878158]is there a song that's special to you and dh/so?[QUOTE]

There's several that's special to us. That's also why "Can't help falling in love" is on the list. "Strangers in the night" just doesn't seem suitable for a baby's room! lol And i'm a HUGE Elvis fan, so it would be nice to use something of his. "Can't help..." can definately work...but I also like "Love Me Tender".

It's just a "challenge" to find a song that is special to me/DH that can also convey to Peanut. We will find something...and we do have time.

Maybe i should ask DH about all this sometime! hahahahahaha

Hmmm. someone mentioned a Beatles-themed room. I have always wanted an Elvis themed room (in general - not for a baby necessarily). Maybe I can work that angle. - Love Me Tender, Teddy Bear, Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes.

Forget it - DH would KILL me. lol

A nursery rhyme might be cute. Like twinkle twinkle with a sun/star/moon theme or Mary had a little lamb with a lamb theme, the options are many with Mother Goose!

I love the song by Martina McBride, "In my Daughter's Eye." Obviously for a girl.

"My Wish" by Rascall Flatts. Of course, I love "Imagine" by John Lennon.
