I haven't really gotten any BH. Not that I've noticed anyways.

I get them once every few days. Paul calls them the "Epstein-Barr" contractions. They come on pretty quick, make me feel really uncomfortable, and then go away within a minute. I usually only get one at a time. You know how some copy machines will scan a document and that laser light goes down the paper -- that's what I think of when I get these.

Amy, that's a great description!

I never had them (or never felt them) with DD. Not even a hardening... nothing.

With this one, I *think* I may had 2 BH episodes, which had 1 BH each, it's a lot like what you all described, but doesn't last but a few seconds and when I move, it's over.

I get them, have been for say... 3 weeks? First time was in the shower. I get a tightening across the top of my bump.

Now I get them when I stand up off the loo practically every time... how peculiar is that?!

I'd been having them where I didn't even realize I was having BH until I laid my hand on my belly and felt that it was hard as a rock. But Monday I was walking across the room at work and felt a horrible pain all across the lower quarter of my abdomen. Tried walking through it and it just kept hurting...this went on probably 2 mins. Scared the crap out of me. The rest of the night I had some painful BH but with no timed regularity. I'm definitely asking the dr on Friday but it seems better. I just always thought the BH didn't hurt...

Who gets them? Me!

How often do you get them? Right now just 5-6 times a week. In the second trimester I was getting 5-6 a day. I just have to avoid "real" exercise and bending over anything. It's really hard to clean without bending over. :/

What week did you start feeling them? Week 16. Urg.

I get them all the time & have been for a few months now. Last night was the worst episode yet - they were stronger & longer than before - I hope it isn't a sign or anything...it was hard to breathe through them laying down.

I do! I got them with my 2nd pregnancy but not until the last week or two. And now I do with this one. I've been getting them maybe since 26 weeks. I notice I get more if I haven't drank enough water or have done too much. Mine are uncomfortable as well. Sometimes I can feel them all over and sometimes more internal and down low.

I have been getting them for a while now. It depends on the day as far as how many. I can have only a couple in a day to a couple in an hour. It is strange because I never felt them with my DD.

I get them ALL the time... I keep asking the doc if we should be worried and she said no and to only worry about the painful ones..

I don't remember having them with Emmie but it is no mistaking this time... It is more annoying than anything for me.

I don't think I've had any! Sometimes my belly feels tight but it seems to stay that way for an hour or so, with BH it would be intermittent tightening right?

I have been getting them for the past 2 weeks or so, but didn't realize it until the last BH thread. I though the hardening of my belly was where little man was balled up and kinda pushing out against my tummy. I tested this theory after reading a couple people's description of BH by pushing on him. If he is balled up, when I push on him, he changed positions. If it is a BH, no matter what direction I push or how hard I push on him, nothing will stop the balled up feeling. It is always across the top or middle of my belly and never low, but he hasn't dropped in the least.

I get them most every night. More often is I have exercised or had a busy day with little rest. It is primarily at night though...or maybe I noticed them more at night rather than when I am busy during the day.

I have no clue, but I hope this means my body will actually go into labor this time compared to with DS!!

I have them everyday, probably about 10/day. They come if I don't drink enough water or have a full bladder. They aren't painful, just a tightening across my upper abdomen lasting around 20 seconds. I think they started around 23 weeks. I can't stand the thought of the painful contractions that are coming in just 9 short weeks!!

me too! It's so weird, isn't it? I especially get them if I had to poop (sorry for the tmi) and then I get up from the toilet.

I've been getting them for months now, with more and more when I haven't had enough to drink or am out in the heat for too long. I especially get them if I'm up and walking around a lot. They will literally stop me in my tracks and take the wind out of me at times.

I asked my doctor about them and she said that if I am getting too many at a time, I need to stop, drink a lot of fluids (water and gatorade/powerade) and try to lie down for a while. She said I didn't really need to be concerned about them though unless they became regular and didn't let up after lying down (as in if I was getting them every 2-3 minutes in an hour).
