When you are in labor (and thus for delivery and those wonderful first pictures)?

I have LONG thick hair and I braided it, but it still looked pathetic for those wonderful first baby pictures Partly because I had slept on it a little (went into labor at 1:00 am after the 2nd cervadil pill) and partly because I have all these little blasted fly aways that just won't stay put no matter what I try (and yeah, I'm not into doing my hair for an hour before labor...)

Just wondering if you've thought of what you are going to do with your hair, and do you really care ?

i had mine in a pony tale with DS and will most likely have it the same way again. I get so hot during labor i can't imagine having it down and in my way.

I have long thick curly hair so I pulled it up in a messy bun while I was in labor which is what I'll probably do again.

Started out like this the morning I was admitted... (very unexpected!)

and ended up looking like this

If for whatever reason I end up having a scheduled C-section, I asked my SIL if she'd braid my hair so it's completely out of the way and I know it'll be a while before I can take a shower again.

I'm thinking I'll do a french braid again, but this time, 2 of them down the back sides instead of one big one down the middle... I'll have time Maybe it'll stay better with 2 braids, and I'll do my best to make them SUPER tight.

I have short hair so there isn't much I can do. It will probably be all matted and flat in the back after laying in the hospital bed. I'm most likely having a repeat section so at least I won't have to worry about it being in my face during labor.

Messy top bun, lol. I have a scrunchy that works perfectly for that and when I take it out my hair looks good and has volume after.

I'm thinking a messy pony tail/bun thing. I can't stand to have my hair in my face when I'm cleaning or eating and I'm guessing the same thing for child birthing. lol I'm goign to have some extra elastics on my wrist and some for my doula as well and one of her jobs is to "do my hair" when it comes undone. She's also in charge of putting my glasses on and off if I can't stand them on my face anymore then decide I need them. lol

I looked like total crap after my emergency C. I had no warning, no time, shortish hair and I was so drugged up I didn't even think to make myself look better before the camera started flashing away. Ugh, it still bothers me to go back and look at the pics. It was just awful. I cut bangs recently and the rest of my hair is long, just past my shoulders. So, I think I will put it in a pony with one of those elastic headbands to hold my bangs back out of my face this time. Last time, I couldn't shower for 3 days so I expect the same this time, but at least I will be able to keep it in a pony until that first glorious shower arrives!

My hair is in a pony tail 99% of the time anyways. I really would like to cut it short again, but hubby complains about it and honestly, it's just one of those things not worth hearing about.

My fat/swollen/puffy face was a fab combo with the messy hair!!

This is when the doc was stitching me up and I had about 30 seconds with Nathan before they took him to the NICU-I didn't even know hubby took this pic until later. 27 hours of labor

About 8 hours later when he was released from NICU

Again, the fat/swollen/puffy face with Lukas-18 hours of labor

My hair will be in some type of a pony tail/bun. I'll have one of those elastic headbands to keep the fly-away hairs off my face.

I need to get one of those headbands! Can you get them just about anywhere, and do they hurt your head?

Kris, those are BEAUTIFUL pictures Amazing how fast your little guys have grown up!

I'm getting double french braids the day before my c-section and will cover my head with one of my biker bandanna's.

I think you can get a cheap elastic head band at the $ store.

Thanks Gwynne! I'm hoping not to get so chubby this time.

Those elastic bands never stay put for me-they always roll back on/off my head.

oh man, I hadn't even thought of this. I have short hair in the Victoria Beckham bob style (really short in the back, longer in the front and on the sides. I have no idea what I could do with it.

You can get those anywhere -- Target, Walmart, your pharmacy. They don't bother me.

They always roll off my head too, what does that mean? That we have big heads?

Messy bun all the way, kinda the same as my standard pregnancy hairdo

I was thinking ill just leave my curled with my big barrel curling iron..so messy waves/curls. Then if i want I can put it in a pony for a while but still pull it down if i want without it being all creased and funky. Im totally that girl that took a shower, and did my hair and makeup when I went into labor with my son, at 11pm, haha. Its the hairdresser in me, I just can't let it go.
