For those not fb, I was in the hospital Tuesday morning for severe stomach pain and vomiting. They did blood work and an ultrasound and can't give me any explanation why it keeps happening. Sent me home with a prescription for Phenergan. I asked for Zofran but they told me to try the other stuff first. Phenergen works just fine, but I really have to weigh the pros and cons of it because it makes me feel like a zombie.
Well, after a couple days of feeling fine, I woke up at 4:30 am with the stomach pain again. I decided to take my Phenergan then instead of waiting until it got unbearable and possibly not be able to keep it down. I then slept like I was dead until the alarm went off at 7:55. I have been completely exhausted ever since I woke up. I did doze for about 15 minutes but it really wasn't enough. I just had a 20 oz coke, hoping to wake myself up a bit.
This is why I wanted the Zofran! I am hardly able to function today and it sucks. I may ask them for Zofran at my appt on Wednesday. This whole thing just drives me so crazy.
Yeah, the dizziness is getting me too. I also read that it can cause swelling in your hands and feet! That would explain the extra swelling I've been having. And that it can make you feel agitated, which I certainly feel!
Trish, that's aweful! I wish they had an answer for you and not just a "band aid" solution... Do you have gall bladder issues? I had that after DD and had to have it removed, but I had the same symptoms, but mine was so bad that I had it removed immediately (DD was 8 weeks old). They said it had been coming on through the whole pregnancy, but for some reason, I didn't have any symptoms until the BIG ones. Others will have gradual symptoms (nausea, fatigue, ache in the ab) which may be stones or something...
I hope you get the Zofran on Wednesday and you are able to control the uck and still have some energy!

I think you meant me Gwynne. They checked a whole bunch of things... gall bladder, kidneys, liver... everything checked out. Well, they did say that I had a cyst or something on my liver but they don't think it means anything. All of my blood work came back normal. This same exact thing happened to me last pregnancy. Sick a whole bunch, hospitalized 4 times with IV fluids and ketones in my urine. No answers as to why. They gave me Zofran last pregnancy but it didn't always work. It was not a fun time. Thankfully, it hasn't been as bad this time. I think the probiotics I'm taking really help.
I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. I wish they would have given you the meds you wanted. Maybe you could call your doc's office and tell them. Maybe they can call in a cript for you without having to go in for a visit.
Ugh! That must be so hard with 4 kids and one on the way! I'm sorry you have to go through this before the docs will take your advice and give you the meds you need to be on You think they would listen to the patient.... oh well!
Hope you start to feel better
