and I just want to get your thoughts (no debates, please, I know about all the pros and cons!)

So, here's my "issue" and I've posted a poll for your thoughts, too...

I'm due 9/9 and (ETA)... We know that's right because we had an IUI so no guessing on when I truly ovulated!

Except the very first u/s at 6w 4d at the RE's office (who even told me he's not sure how accurate it was), I've measured either right on target (earlier u/s) or a bit ahead.

So far, no bp issues or signs of pre-e, but I had it at the end with DD and she was born 8 days early with just a mild induction (cervadil I think and the rest was natural, didn't even need all the doses of the pills)

History of picture perfect deliveries (thank God for epidurals, though )

We have no one here who can watch DD on the fly.

DH has Labor Day (and weekend) off.

Mom (10 hours away) has Labor Day (and weekend) and that Friday after Labor Day off.

My courses are in between quarters over Labor Day weekend, so no work duty!

Soooooo.....

If my Bishop's scores are higher than 5 (I was 5 with DD and that's why I think the induction went so well)...

if you were me, would elect for an induction on Friday the 3rd? (again, only if the Bishop's score were favorable and it's 6 days early)

It would allow: for my mom to come up and watch DD on a schedule (if Kellen stays put til then!)

It would give Dh more time with me in the hossy without taking days off

It would let us get to the hospital without fear of delivering in the car (hospital is an hour away and I FEAR delivering without my blessed epidural)

I wouldn't have to worry about posting anything that weekend for students!

but...

it may very well be an elected procedure...

So, what would you do?

Thanks for reading the book!

I can totally see why you would want to do it..and considering that it is only 6 days ahead of your DD...I would say go for it. As long as all is good with the baby. That is the same day I was hoping to go into labor HEHE.

I have no experience with induction (and only 4 hours of natural labor experience) so I am not one to give advice. However, you make a good case for why it would be a good idea. I think whatever seems best to you is the way to go! See, I told you I am not at all helpful

I was induced at 39 weeks (PIH)... and they only did it early because they were SURE of her gestational age (I had 5 ultrasounds with her) so with the accuracy of your IUI dates and such... I would feel comfortable going at 39 weeks granted he was head down and scored well on the Bishops' scale. So if everything falls into place, go for it!

I'd do it!

My OB won't induce unless I'm two weeks late. He is in NO HURRY EVER.

I went on my own early with both kids so I'm not concerned.

thanks, ladies! I'll just see what the next few appointments show as far as effacement, dilation, position, softening and so forth. If it's getting excitingly close, I am kind of leaning in that direction! EEEEK!!! If nothing looks ripe or ready, we're not even going to consider it.

With Scarlett my Doctor refused to schedule an induction even for a week after my due date. I went to the last minute wondering if my baby sitter would be availible and that was stressful!

I am going to be induced in September 3rd myself, 12 days early. I even have the babysitter set up!

Voted

I was induced with DD (pre-E), The pitocin was horrible, but it went very well.

I am "thinking" of asking for an induction this time because with DD I was 4cm when my midwife broke my water at 8:00am and at 8:10am I was 10cm and pushing...she was born at 8:13am I am so afraid to have my water break at home and deliver at home or in the car...or worse in public

A week before your due date? Yes, I'd do it! Fingers crossed that your OB agrees!

It sounds like you'd be a good candidate to induce again. Will your doc agree to it?

Oh, yep! My doc is all for it, given the conditions are all right (we're both set on that, I do NOT want to have to have pitocin or anything like that)... she said the 3rd (Fri) because she's already "in the office" or the 6th (Mond) because she's on call at the hossy already... the 6th would be OK, too, but because of EVERYTHING outlined above, Friday is SOOOO much more optimal... so we have that as an option!

I voted and I say yes. U seem more than well aware of the pros and cons. U also seem like u are taking everything into consideration. Its only 6 days early and u have many things that are understandable concerns.

I can't think of any circumstance except going way overdue that I would have an induction. But I'm not you and I'm not in your circumstances. So I voted yes.

I voted yes for you, too! Personally, I'm scared to death of an induction and want to avoid it at all costs (even hiding from my doctor if I go more than a week over ), but your circumstance is totally different than my irrational fear! I hope that it works out for you...it sounds about perfect!

What is a bishop score? I've never heard of it.
I voted YES. I will be induced by 38 weeks because of my big babies + GD. However he suggested being induced at 38-39 weeks anyways because we are so far from the hospital. DH is a school principal, school starts on the 7th, so he can't just take 3 weeks off to come down and wait, and the fact that I have big babies!
