Ok so last night I woke up with horrible pains right under my breast bone. It FELT like my uterus, but with all of my organs shifted around it could have been my stomach I sat right up in bed from a deep sleep because it hurt so bad!

Anyway, I could have sworn I was in labor! It felt like diarrhea cramps, BUT I didn't have to go to the bathroom. I even tried to force myself to go! I was soo paranoid that I was in PTL, especially because I know some of you BTDT moms have described contractions as gas/diarrhea cramps.

The pain was mostly at the top of my uterus and it came in waves. It lasted for about an hour. So my question is.... could this have been Braxton Hicks??! What was going on in there? Anyone have any ideas??

I don't know Kelli, but it sounds to me like it might be BH contractions? Especially if the stopped after an hour. Hopefully someone has better advice for you

I frequently wake up like that, with MAJOR pains under my left ribs (it almost feels like my ribs are broken and are poking me). The pains eventually go away. The best that I can figure (and I'm a geography geek and not a trained medical professional) is that the baby is jamming her butt up there and because I'm sleeping on my left side, the pressure on that side builds.

I've asked my doctor about this and the best answer I can get is "eh, you're pregnant". I hope someone else can give you a better answer.
Thank you JAIDYNSMUM for my adorable new siggy!

My BH contractions never hurt much, it just gets tight and then eases up all over my belly. Labor contractions felt (within minutes of starting) really painful and mine were in the bottom part of my uterus (like menstrual cramps). Maybe this was really bad stomach pains due to acid or reflux or possibly gall bladder? Did you eat anything with a lot of fat in it or anything new before bed or for dinner? I don't know but it sounds awful!

BH should not hurt much unless you were very active the day before. This is what my doctor told me when I told her that I woke up one night with painful contractions or what I thought were contractions. I did walk a lot the day before so it made sense to me. What did you do yesterday?

I also get rib pain from baby's but being right under them, but it is not too too bad.

I hope this pain was a one time thing. When is your next appointment?

It could have been your stomach but it could have been some regular contractions too - BH should not hurt like that - that sounds more like regular contractions - which can happen at this point - the important thing is that they went away. You could def call your doc on Monday if you want to - or mention it at your next appointment.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I actually did have a big meal last night and we ate pretty late, so it could have definitely been digestive issues... I just didn't think it was because I couldn't go to the bathroom Weird.
My next appointment is on Monday, thankfully! It will be nice to hear a heartbeat and to *know* that everything is ok!
