At least for today. Not sure how long I will be on it after that.

I lost my mucous plug today. I had some major discharge (sorry, TMI), and then was having some contractions 8 minutes apart for about an hour. I layed down and they went away after having water, too. When I got up and peed, I had some more discharge with some blood in it. So I called the OB and they said it sounds like I have lost my mucous plug and to rest. So, that's what I am trying to do.

Hi Milly.. I am sorry you have to join us.
I have a question for you…I think I am starting to lose my mucous plug. A couple of days ago I noticed this funny thick yellowish discharge but did not think much of it.. Today again the same thing came out; same color and consistency but a bit more than last time. There was no blood and from what I know it is a good sign. I don’t want to be a crazy lady and drive to the hospital right away, but I am worried because there is a chance my baby is coming too early.
Sounds like your doctor did not ask you to come in and prescribed bed rest over the phone. Did she mention anything else? How long could it take to go in labor if the mucous plug is out.

She didn't really mention anything about labor or anything, just that they would like to make sure he isn't born for 4 more weeks at the earliest. She didn't even seem that worried to me on the phone. Pretty much said if I get more symptoms or if things get worse, call them back. I think I am going to call the OB in the morning and just see what they say, even though the on-call nurse didn't say I had to.

Popping in from the Oct DDC to say that I lost my mucous plug early with this pregnancy and my first pregnancy, earlier than 30 weeks. My OB reassured me both times that 99.999% of the time your body makes a new one...so no worries : )

Ok.. it sounds like there is not much to worry about unless contractions get more frequent. Thanks for the info girls!

Sorry you are on bedrest! I hope your baby stays put for at least another 4wks!

I've also heard that your mucus plug will grow back if you lose it too early - so, hopefully that may be the case with you!

That sucks! I can't say I've ever lost one though, or even part of one, I don't know what it even looks like although I have read quite a bit that it looks like one huge booger, lol. Make sure to relax and get as much rest as possible and keep baby baking!
