I have a scheduled c-section which of course I know you cannot eat after midnight.... blah blah blah...

But what I am wondering is... they told me the other day that if I show any signs of labor to come in and they will do the c-section right then. Well, if this happens I am sure (depending on the time of day) that I will have eaten at some point during the day. Do they do anything different or should I just expect nausea?

If you go into labor, they might give you a few hours to digest what you did eat. Some women puke because of the drugs and all of the extra hands shoving things around in there. Not all, some.

They'll give you a 'shot' to drink to help with stomach acid, they can put anti-nausea meds in your IV, ask for them!

The main reason they don't want you to eat, is in case they have to put you out. Puking while you're under is dangerous.

They give you this shot of something, I can't even remember what it's called but it tastes super nasty. It settles your stomach anyways so you do not throw up on the table.

I was kind of wondering that too. I am pretty sure they don't want you eating beforehand to minimize your risk of throwing up.

This. I had an emergency c-section and I was told they would wait 3 hours if possible if I had just eaten.

I also was told going in that if I started to feel even a little sick during the operation to tell them. I started feeling queasy and told the nurse and she quickly gave me something and I felt fine... well other than the pressure of them yanking Zakkary out.
