I'm soooo frustrated with my weight! I've been stuck at my current weight for what feels like forever. A little over a month ago, I joined the gym and everything was going great, I was feeling energetic and just enjoying my time at the gym, then I got super busy working full time from home and working on my university class part-time and didn't go for about 10 days. I know life gets in the way sometimes and it will surely happen from time to time. I picked myself up and went this morning, so I feel good about that.
What sucks, is that it doesn't seem to make any difference what I do anymore, the scale won't budge! I went 4-6 times a week for 3 weeks and if anything, I gained weight in muscle, but I didn't lose a single pound. I'm soooo discouraged at the idea that I might be one of those women whose metabolisn won't ever be the same after pregnancy. I haven't been able to lose any weight in months now... I'm just really down about this lately, thanks for letting me rant a bit.
Don't beat yourself up about this. Like you said, you're probably just gaining in muscle. Try to not go by the scale so much and instead by how you look! I'm sure you're probably smaller even if the scale isn't telling you. Do lots of cardio!
Stop looking at the scale, instead start measuring your arms, legs, waist, hips, etc and start looking at the inches. I don't know how often you weigh yourself, but I only weigh myself once a week and that seems to help with the frustration of seeing the pounds not drop.
lately my water intake isn't great, I do admit, but usually I drink lots of water...
I get mesured at the gym every 6 weeks, so I haven't gotten mesured yet since starting, it should be coming up soon. I really don't care about the number on the scale, I'm built fairly big for a girl, so I've always been ''heavy'' on the scale anyways compared to how I look and feel, so Im used to that, but my clothes aren't budging either. I just feel like ''why the hell do I put all that work in and get up at 5:30 am for if it's not gonna change a **** thing?!'' KWIM?
And I know I should do more cardio, but I've always HATED cardio with a passion and I had told myself that as long as I went to the gym, I might as well enjoy it since it's supposed to be ''me time'' so I tried to convince myself it didn't matter if I didn't do as much cardio (I usually do 20 intense minutes on the eleptical followed by weights and abs and stretching) as long as I got my butt to the gym, but it looks like I may need to reevaluate my point of view on that...
Building muscle will eventually help you lose weight, since muscle burns more calories than fat. However, if you want to start burning fat more quickly and efficiently, you do need to put in more cardio! I read in an exercise book once that, up until the 20-minute mark of a workout, it's considered anaerobic. After 20 minutes, it becomes aerobic, and you start burning more faster. So, even if you just add 10 more minutes to your cardio and run/jog/dance/etc for 30 minutes instead of 20, I bet you'll start seeing more progress. =)
I haven't had a lot of motivation to exericise as rigorously as I'd like (it's hard to go anywhere with DH since he's completely non-athletic; he's my only transportation, since I don't like to take Caleb on the public bus), but I've been doing really well eating healthier, and the pounds just keep coming off just from that. How's your diet these days? Drinking lots of water definitely helps me lose weight faster, and I've completely cut out soda and am eating lots more fruits and veggies.
Do you look thinner? If you want to lose weight, then try not to do as much strength training initially if you're worried about lbs and not bodyfat. Refrain from drinking all juices, sodas and teas, I swear it works!!!

I stopped looking solely at weight loss and started looking at inches. I've been 113 lbs and worn a size 7 and 113 lbs and wore a size 3. Weight doesn't matter much in terms of size.

Beth, I totally agree about weight vs inches. I'll begetting mesured soon, so I guess we'll see. Amanda, it's funny you brought up weight watchers because I was talking about it with a friend over the weekend and I'm thinking of starting it. If I do, I'll let you all know how it goes!
