Ok so I was told by my doctor to use an enema the night before I went in. Do I just do it before I go to sleep or what?

Oh gosh I don't know... I'd be afraid I'd be up ALLLLL NIGHT pooping instead of trying to rest up! I'm not sure how quickly those take effect???

Whatever you do... good luck!

It says on the package 2-5 minutes..I think I will wait until I drop DD at her grandparents in a little bit. Ugh I wish I didn't have to do it at all!

Why do you have to!? It sounds like the last thing I want to do. I mean, I can understand why it might be convenient for them (and maybe for you), but still...uncomfy!

Have you read Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy? She talks about almost using an enema at the beginning of labor, it's kind of funny, but she decides against it in the end.

lurking-my friend told me when she got her enema it made her contractions less painful! I think your body does this anyways naturally when you get loose stools before going into labor.

Did he say you had to do it? At my childbirthing class, the nurse said that if you are really nervous/worried about pooping during labor, you could do an enema during early labor to clear out your lower colon. She said it would be more for your peace of mind than anyone else's.

I've never had an enema before, but I would think it works rather quickly and you probably won't make it through a stretch of sleep without it taking effect.
