I have a few questions--
I am about half way through the book (I have heard such wonderful things about baby wise babies) but I am confused. (mainly bc I babysat a baby who was on that schedule) but after reading the book--so far--it talks about being on a schedule, 7, 10, 1, 3, 7 10--or whatever you choose, but then it talks about being flexible too. Im confused, do you go by the time or the baby's cues?

I also plan on BF. How long does a newborn feed? is that still the 30ish minute time (it just seems like alot of time for such a little baby)

Any advice you might can share or thoughts if you plan on doing this method or have done it before or maybe you are currently doing it?

I wish there was a class I could go to, so that I can ask questions! But for now, you guys are stuck with me with my (im sure) redundant questions!

Thanks in advance!

My friend was given the book an she threw it in the garbage. There has been a lot of controversial info about the book actually.

I'm reading the Baby Whisperer right now and DH is reading Baby Wise but I will read it after she is done. My sister did a combo of the two and her son was sleeping great through the night within a pretty short time. I don't know if that's because of the schedule or because he was just a good baby though.

I'll let you know what I think of the book too. So far all we've been doing is making sure that Rowan eats every 2.5-3 hours during the day and doesn't go longer than 5 hours at night (he really wakes himself up around 3 hours anyway, but last night we got a glorious 4 hours straight of sleep).

I picked up Babywise (because it seemed popular, and what new mom doesn't love the idea of a baby that sleeps thru the night?) after having Finn -- but quickly threw it out. I've got a Dr. Sears parenting book too and I'm way more "attachment parenting" than schedule. If baby is hungry, I feed him.

Roan is in his 3 week growth spurt. So yesterday DH fed him a bottle because I was trying to get dinner going and it was easier than switching roles (this time...) but Roan ate 4 oz. I've never gotten him to eat that much at once yet. But an hour later, he was crying and nursed for another 25 minutes.

Finn got so that he had his own schedule. 8 pm, 11 pm, 4 am, -- for a while he would eat between 11 and 4, but then slowly grew so that he could go that 5 hr stretch. Right now, newborns have such tiny tummies, they can't survive that long. Breastmilk is more easily digestible, so you have to feed more often.
