I am getting so engorged but also my poor hamburger nipples are so incredibly sore. I make sure she is well latched, I'm using lansionol alot. I know I pretty much just have to wait it out but has anyone found any great tips to help ease the pain?

sadly, no. I was doing great until about 2 days ago and now am in the same boat. My poor nipples are pretty tender. Wah.

I used the hard plastic nipple shields for the first few days. They prevented my nipples from rubbing against my clothes. I found they helped, but not very attractive.

I don't have any tips, but I can offer you a little hope I was like that 2 days ago and was sooo close to quitting breastfeeding. I was so close I actually had the formula in hand, but I soldiered through and now it doesn't hurt at all! it took about 9 days, but my nipples finally toughened up. Hope things get better for you ladies!

I've always breastfed, oddly I never went through this with my 1st or 2nd, but have now with my 3rd, 4th and 5th. I know it goes away but I just want it gone now! sigh.
Good for you for sticking it out. It really is worth it in the end.

I pumped because I had to to help my preemie along. I found out that it also helped with nipple tenderness, to give my nipples a break. If you're not afraid of her using a bottle with breastmilk, go ahead and give yourself a break.

you are able to take ibprophan, maybe try getting a wash cloth and soak it in hot water(hot enough you can handle) ring out the excess water and just set it on your breasts or nips.

No advice for you, but I'm in a similar painful situation. Oh, and right now Betsy is refusing to eat from the left side so today should be super fun.

I was pretty sore for a while but a few days ago, it stopped hurting. I don't remember exactly when... the days just sort of blend together.

I feel your pain literally. Somes days my nipples feels pretty good and I think I'm getting past the hard part but then the next day they will hurt again.

if baby refuses to nurse on one breast make sure you hand express or pump a little from it so it doesnt get engourged.

last night my nipples would not come out for him so after a while i took my ice pack and numbed them and made them come out a little.

for the pain you can use a heat pack.

I pumped for about 2 days and let them heal (I'm talking bloody scabs) waiting for the engorgment to go away, and now BFing is going great. She went right back the the breast with no trouble, even after having a bottle for two days. Her Doc even suggested I give her one or two bottles a week, just in case I get sick, need a sitter, or whatever.

Cold cabbage leaves
Soothies
And if you can, go topless for a while and let them be exposed to the air without anything touching them

I feel your pain! Mine are pretty sore right now too. I used a plastic nipple shield for a couple feedings a day a few days ago, and that helped! I'm just afraid to use it too much because I don't want him to get used to it.

I am pumping exclusively this time around so I have not dealt with this this time around. Something that worked a bit for me when I tried to breastfeed my first was to massage some of the breast milk into my nipples and then let it air dry. It helped a bit.
